In winter season, the most common and safe way to arrive at the city of Ushuaia is by plane. At first, Cerro Castor only had 3 ski lifts with four seats each, 1 platter or Poma lift, 15 trails and a shelter facility at the bottom. The Cerro Castor ski area

The Cerro Castor ski resort was opened in 1999. It is located on the southern slopes of Cerro Krund, 26 km from the city of Ushuaia. The ski resort is just 195 meters above sea level, reaching 1,057 meters at the summit.

It has a network of snow cannons covering the central part to the base, guaranteeing snow cover throughout the season. It also has artificial snow on 6 slopes: El Cóndor, Gaviota Austral, Albatros, Petrel, Las Rocas, Avutarda and Halcón Peregrino. The resort is also equipped with the latest machines and technology.

Cerro Castor has a maximum altitude of 1,057 meters and 26 km of pistes (15 km of blue runs, 8 km of red runs and 3 km of black runs). It also boasts 12 lifts, 5 chairlifts, 3 drag lifts and 4 conveyors. There are 31 slopes of varying levels, as well as an ever-evolving Snowpark for freestylers. Cerro Castor boasts an impressive 862-meter vertical descent. It is suitable only for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.

The Cerro Castor ski resort is constantly developing, but it retains what sets it apart: its natural, exclusive character.

The operator of the Cerro Castor ski resort decided to entrust the experts at TechnoAlpin with the reinforcement and extension of its existing snowmaking system.

The project involves equipping a beginners’ slope, starting from the intermediate zone at an altitude of 480 meters, with snowmaking equipment. This run, accessible to all types of skiers, allows an easy return to the base area. The project also includes the extension of the snowmaking system on the “Snow Park” slope.

BETTER SNOW QUALITY AND OPTIMIZED PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE IN ALL CONDITIONS

With these advanced tools, the ski area operator will benefit from the best technology for optimum snow production on its slopes. In addition, a modification will be carried out during the summer to guarantee the water supply to a pumping station isolated from the main snowmaking network.
