From this Saturday, June 8, to Friday, July 12, it will be possible to ski and snowboard in Haute Tarentaise, France, with excellent conditions and more than two meters of snow. Val d’Isère opens the Pisaillas Glacier to skiers of all levels, who can slide at an altitude between 2,725 and 3,300 meters between 7.00 a.m. and 12 p.m.
You can access the ski lifts from the Iseran pass and buy your ticket there, by the chairlift. There are three slopes open to the public and three reserved for the training of international ski teams. The one-day ski pass rate is € 28.50. Keep in mind that dates may vary depending on the weather conditions.
Val d’Isère is known for being a place where you can practice outdoor sports all year round, such as hiking, cycling on its 160 km of trails or skiing in both winter and summer. Summer skiing has been practiced on the Pisaillas glacier since the late 60s, but there are other French glaciers where you can ski, at the resorts of Tignes, Les 2 Alpes and Alpe d’Huez. The Grande Motte glacier, next to Tignes, will also open on Saturday, June 22, and it will remain open until August 4.
Among the advantages of summer skiing, besides the sun and good weather, the ski area is much less crowded and the prices are very low compared to the winter season. You can even watch international professional skiers training on the slopes closed for them.
And if you are going summer skiing at the Pisaillas glacier in July and you’re interested in clean energy, you can visit the Val d’Isère Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Exhibition, from July 11 to 14, in which more tan 100 ecological vehicles will be exhibited and more than 15,000 visitors are expected.
