
Straddling the territories of the municipalities of Camurac and Montaillou, the Camurac ski resort is the only resort in the Aude Pyrenees. Rural mid-mountain territory, with altitudes among 1500 and 1810m, Camurac offers all the pleasure and fun of sliding in a preserved natural environment.
It is located in the French commune of Camurac, in Pays de Sault. It offers 11 downhill ski runs and 2 cross-country and snowshoe trails.
Camurac ski resort location
The Camurac ski resort, located at the top of the Col du Teil. The different accommodation options are placed at the foot of the slopes, available throughout the year. Among them, stand out Gites de France, 3star chalet les Dalmatiens and Chalet les Volets Verts.
The Chalets du Teil association, an eco-responsible association, aims to make citizens responsible for the environment. The Chalets du Teil association organizes festive events. Owners of chalets in the resort get involved and support the movement, called “4 seasons”.
The heart of the resort is in Col du Teil, 5 km from the village. You will find all the facilites there: ski lifts, waiting room, snack bar, lockers, first aid station, ski school, toboggan run and equipment rental.
Distribution of the slopes in Camurac
Camurac, the only winter sports resort in the Aude Pyrenees. Located in the Col du Teil (1627 m above sea level), has managed to make nature its main asset. This family ski resort holds the authentic charm of a mountain village. At the village of Camurac, set at 1220 m, most of the accommodation and services can be found, as well as the practice of winter sports.
A family-sized resort in the Pays de Sault, it is the ideal setting for a dynamic and sporty day or stay. Or, quiet and relaxing holidays.
The Camurac ski resort offers 11 alpine ski trails for all levels under the Pic de Pénédis (1816 m). As well as 2 routes for snowshoeing (the Vallon d’Embournac route and the Pla de l’Homme circuit), drawn in the middle of a preserved nature environment. We also take advantage of a tight and safe sled run, a beginner’s ski area with a ski lift, a snow garden to learn to ski and a ski school (International Ski School – ESI).
For fun, the resort also offers the ability to get off the troden track on a snow scooter. Or in the air with a paraglider. A diversified entertainment program and a rest area with fast food and picnic restaurants. Perfect for a pleasant rest. And for bad weather, the town of Camurac offers a complete library.
The alpine ski area
The Camurac alpine ski area is made up of a beginner’s area with a ski lift (in the Teil pass, at 1627 m). Fully equipped with artificial snow cannons, ensuring a high quality snow cover.
We find 11 trails for all levels (2 black, 2 red, 5 blue and 2 green). They run along the gently sloping slopes of the snow front (green and blue slopes) and on a beautiful slope rest under the Pic de Pénédis (Coste Rouge sector where we find the black and red slopes).
The 15 km of sliding at elevations between 1500 m and 1800 m of altitude are served by 5 lifts (4 lifts and 1 telecord). The snow cover is granted thanks to 25 snow cannons.
You can learn the basics of skiing in the snow garden, in the beginner’s area, or trying the green piste at Les Marmottes. Meanwhile, amateur skiers enjoy the blue slopes, including the beautiful and extense Languedocienne. Sport skiers will have no problem chaining sharp corners. In the Coste Rouge sector, we find the black slope of Les Perdreaux, with a pleasant slope and a clear view.
Nordic activities in Camurac
For lovers of nature walks, Camurac has 2 open routes for walking with snowshoes and traces in the middle of virgin nature: the return trip from Vallon d’Embournac and the Pla de l’Homme circuit)
From the top of the resort, you will discover a 360 ° panorama with the Pyrenees mountain range on one side and the Aude and Ariège plains on the other side.
