Mijanès, the resort’s strong points

The Mijanès-Donezan resort, located in the department of Ariège (Occitanie region, in the French Pyrenees), extends between approximately 1,530 and 2,000 meters above sea level, giving it a modest but sufficient vertical drop to provide interesting descents within its scale. The alpine domain offers around 12 km of skiable slopes, spread over 15 runs: 4 green, 6 blue, 3 red, and 2 black, thus covering the needs of everyone from beginners to more experienced skiers.

One of its distinctive features is its family-friendly and human-scale approach: with 5 ski lifts (teleskis) and a tapis (conveyor belt for beginners), the logistics of the area are simple and practical, ideal for those looking to avoid large crowds. In addition, the wooded environment encourages skiing between trees and creates a more intimate experience with nature.

The resort not only offers downhill skiing, but also complementary activities that enrich your stay: Nordic skiing with well-marked cross-country trails (about 15 km) for those who prefer gentler terrain; snowshoe trails, snake-gliss (sledding), and even dog sledding (mushing) for the more adventurous. During the season, the resort is open from approximately December 20 to March 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., allowing for full days of enjoyment.

Useful tips:

  • To start the day, choose the green or blue slopes near the snow front, where the lifts are more accessible and there is less traffic.
  • Halfway through the day, head up to the red and black slopes (such as the “Orrhy” slope) to take advantage of the slope and the highest area of the domain.
  • Always check the snow conditions and slope openings before you go: in years with little snowfall, the higher sections may be closed or inoperative.
  • If you are skiing with children or beginners, the conveyor belt and low-altitude ski lifts are an advantage, as they make learning easier without pressure or crowds.
