The Manigod ski resort
The Manigod ski resort is a small resort with undeniable charm, located at an altitude of 1,500 meters. It is the ideal place for nature lovers and skiers.
The Beauregard plateau and the slopes of the Col de Merdassier offer the perfect setting for cross-country skiing, with trails for all levels in unspoiled natural surroundings. You will also love the cultural heritage (farms, churches, etc.) of the Aravis region.
The ski slopes
In winter, you have direct access to the Manigod ski area via 16 ski lifts and 25 km of marked ski slopes. It also offers a connection to the fantastic La Clusaz ski area (132 km of ski slopes).
The Manigod ski area is an integral part of the La Clusaz – Manigod domain, offering a total of 125 km of slopes shared between the two sectors. Within the “Manigod” sector itself, the resort has its own area of around 25 km of slopes spread over approximately 32 runs, suitable for skiers of all levels. It should be noted that the altitudes of the area vary between approximately 1,460 and 1,780 meters. They are not very high, but they usually have plenty of snow.
Within this area, some slopes deserve special attention:
- The red slopes in the area are particularly interesting for intermediate-advanced skiers, as they make up a substantial part of the offering: of the ~32 slopes, there are approximately 13 red ones.
- There is only one black run in the Manigod ski area, which means that the more technical terrain is more limited, but it is certainly an option for those looking for a challenge.
- For more relaxed or moderate skiers, the blue and green runs play an essential role. In the Manigod ski area, there are about 14 blue runs and about 3 green runs.
- As for the longest run in the area, the longest slope is approximately 1.8 km long.
Another thing that sets Manigod apart is its nighttime offerings: it has 8 floodlit slopes for skiing after dark, making the resort one of the largest in terms of night skiing in the Savoie Mont Blanc region.
In addition, thanks to the connection with La Clusaz, skiers can access a larger area: the La Clusaz-Manigod joint pass allows you to explore up to 132 km of slopes with 52 ski lifts distributed between 1,100 m and 2,600 m in altitude. This interconnection greatly expands the possibilities, allowing you to combine your experience in Manigod with more demanding or varied trails in Clusaz.
From a panoramic point of view, one of the most interesting areas is the one facing the Tête de Cabeau, where several slopes run between forest and mountain pastures, taking advantage of their orientation in the Aravis massif.
In short: although Manigod’s own domain is smaller than the large Alpine resorts, it offers well-balanced slopes for those seeking a more intimate and family-friendly experience. The best slopes for your level will be the red ones that cross over to larger domains and the single black slope for those who want a challenge. But the big advantage is being able to combine it with La Clusaz to extend your runs beyond the local area.
Sustainable development of the Manigod ski resort
In Manigod, a study and analysis of significant environmental impacts has been carried out.
As part of recent construction work, environmental studies have been carried out by an engineering company in order to limit or compensate for the effects on the environment as much as possible.
These studies have enabled preventive measures to be taken, such as the delimitation of non-skiable areas and the creation of an associated information system for customers to protect areas likely to be home to capercaillies.
