Sainte-Croix / Les Rasses

Switzerland | Región: Lake Geneva Region

Located in the canton of Vaud, between the Swiss Jura and Lake Neuchâtel, the resort of Sainte-Croix / Les Rassesoffers family-friendly, accessible skiing in a particularly charming setting. Its location, at an altitude of around 1,200-1,600 m, means it enjoys a cold, stable climate, ideal for winter getaways with natural snow and sweeping views over Lake Geneva and the northern Alps.

An ideal resort for families and beginners

The ski area has 9 km of slopes, perfectly suited to beginners and intermediate skiers. The wide slopes, favorable orientation, and constant presence of instructors make Les Rasses a natural ski school: here you can learn to ski without pressure, in a peaceful and very Swiss atmosphere.

The Jura Ski School offers personalized courses and fun events for children, and the resort maintains particularly affordable ski pass prices compared to the large Alpine resorts.

A paradise for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing

Beyond downhill skiing, Sainte-Croix/Les Rasses is nationally recognized for its Nordic ski area, which stretches across the Balcon du Jura vaudois plateau.

With over 100 km of cross-country ski trails, approved for both classic and skating styles, this area welcomes athletes and enthusiasts from all over Switzerland. The well-marked trails cross fir forests and ridges with panoramic views of the Alps and the lake, making it one of the most beautiful cross-country circuits in western Switzerland.

In addition, several snowshoe trails start directly from the village and lead to natural viewpoints such as the Chasseron (1,607 m), the highest point in the area, from where you can see the entire Alpine chain, from Mont Blanc to Säntis.

Local charm and authenticity

Sainte-Croix and Les Rasses retain the soul of the Jura mountain villages: wooden chalets, traditional inns, and a serene pace where time seems to stand still. In the village, cafés, cheese shops, and small family hotels offer a warm and simple welcome, much appreciated by families and visitors seeking to disconnect from mass tourism.

Access is easy: the resort is about 30 minutes from Yverdon-les-Bains and 1 hour and 15 minutes from Lausanne, making it one of the most convenient getaways for those living in French-speaking Switzerland.

And during the summer, the area is transformed into a hiking and mountain biking paradise, with well-marked trails leading to Chasseron, Col des Étroits, and the forests of Sainte-Croix. It is a four-season destination, where nature and tranquility set the pace for your stay.
