website Sörenberg ski resort
Switzerland | Región: Lucerne

Located in the canton of Lucerne, in the heart of the UNESCO Entlebuch Park, the resort of Sörenberg combines the natural beauty of the central Swiss Alps with a well-balanced range of skiing options, ideal for families, beginners, and intermediate skiers. With its wide slopes, consistent snow cover, and typically Swiss atmosphere, Sörenberg is a destination that surprises with its quality and authenticity.

A family-friendly resort in a high-mountain setting

The Sörenberg ski area extends between 1,166 and 2,350 meters above sea level, offering 53 km of slopes divided between family-friendly sectors and high-altitude areas with panoramic views of the Brienzer Rothorn, the highest peak in the canton of Lucerne.

The lower slopes, close to the village, are ideal for beginners, with drag lifts and large learning areas. More experienced skiers, on the other hand, can take the cable car up to the Brienzer Rothorn, where the red and black slopes offer long, technical descents with spectacular views of Lake Brienz and the Bernese Alps.

The resort has 17 modern and efficient lifts, distributed between the Sörenberg Dorf and Brienzer Rothorn sectors, ensuring smooth access to all areas. The north-facing orientation and altitude ensure quality snow throughout the season, generally from December to early April.

Ideal for families and beginners

Sörenberg is a family resort certified by Family Destination Switzerland. Its snow sports school has an excellent reputation for its teaching methods and the quality of its instructors, and the Kids Village in the main sector offers a safe and fun space where little ones can learn to ski through play.

The atmosphere is relaxed, with no crowds or queues, allowing you to enjoy the snow at a leisurely pace.

In addition, the resort offers ski passes at advantageous prices for families and significant discounts for children and young people. It is a popular destination for residents of Lucerne and Bern, who come on weekends to enjoy the snow and the traditional atmosphere.

A Nordic and natural paradise

Sörenberg is not just about downhill skiing. Its natural environment, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, offers more than 35 km of cross-country ski trails, both classic and skating style, and numerous snowshoeing and winter hiking trails.

Excursions to the Brienzer Rothorn or the Schrattenfluh are memorable experiences for those seeking to combine sport and contemplation in an unspoiled high mountain landscape.

A four-season destination

In summer, Sörenberg becomes a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers, with marked trails winding through alpine pastures and forests. The Brienzer Rothorn cable car remains open, providing easy access to spectacular panoramic views without any effort.

In winter or summer, the village maintains authentic Swiss hospitality: family-run hotels, charming inns, and restaurants where you can sample local specialties such as Älplermagronen or Lucerne fondue.

Convenient and sustainable access

Sörenberg is located 55 km from Lucerne (≈ 1h15 by car) and 35 km from Brienz, and is well connected by public transport. From Lucerne, you can take the train to Schüpfheim and continue by bus to the village center. Its accessibility, combined with its protected environment, reinforces the sustainable character of this mountain resort.

In short, Sörenberg is a hidden gem in the Swiss Alps: a resort on a human scale, with great natural value and guaranteed snow quality, perfect for families, leisurely skiers, and lovers of sustainable tourism.
