In Montriond you’ll find l’Abricotine, one of the longest runs in the Portes du Soleil, with nearly 8km of skiing astride the French-Swiss border, all the way to the foot of the Ardent cable car. On the way down, skiers like to stop off at the famous snowbound village of Les Lindarets, where there’s always a special meal to be enjoyed slopeside.

Montriond: the resort’s main attractions

Located in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, Montriond offers a strategic base for enjoying an extensive network of slopes: it provides direct access to the areas of Avoriaz, Châtel, and Les Crosets in Switzerland, allowing skiers to enjoy more than 650 km of interconnected slopes.

The Montriond ski area has around 77 km of local slopes spread over 56 runs (14% green, 54% blue, 21% red, 11% black), served by 34 ski lifts. The altitude varies between 970 m and 2350 m, allowing for good snow preservation at higher altitudes.

One of the distinctive features of Montriond is its location in the valley, close to Morzine, but enjoying a peaceful setting and accommodation prices that are often more affordable than those in the center of neighboring resorts. The village is well connected to the ski area by the Ardent cable car, which provides quick access to the main slopes. Among the iconic slopes is the Abricotine, almost 8 km long, which descends from the border ridges to the base of the gondola lift, crossing varied landscapes and combining technique with the pleasure of gliding. Montriond is also famous for its mountain restaurants, especially in the hamlet of Lindarets (the “village of goats”), a charming gastronomic stop halfway along some of the ski area’s connections.

• Start your day at the Ardent gondola lift for quick access to the highest areas and enjoy the best snow conditions in the morning.
• To make the most of the ski area, use the lifts connected to Avoriaz or Châtel during the first part of the day, then return to Montriond to enjoy gentler slopes or return to the tranquility.
• Don’t forget to head down to Lindarets for a tasty break: its convertible “Abricotine” run is a beautiful route with panoramic views.
• Check the bus or shuttle schedules from Morzine depending on the location of your accommodation; some areas of the village of Montriond are slightly further away from the lifts.
