The mountain resort of Les Gets in summer

In the heart of the Portes du Soleil, on a plateau at the edge of the forest, the golf course follows the contours of the terrain: as the terrain shifts, each hole is named after a surrounding peak.

Its location on the Chavannes ridge allowed Don Harradine and Olivier Dongradi to design this rather technical course, inaugurated in 1995 by Guy Drut, then Minister of Sport.

More than the difficulty, the slope contributes to the diversity of the course, made even more accessible by a fleet of 30 electric buggies available to players.

Skiing in Les Gets: the resort’s strong points

An authentic Savoyard village with an alpine soul

Located at an altitude of 1,172 meters, in the heart of the Chablais (Haute-Savoie), the resort of Les Gets is part of the legendary Franco-Swiss ski area Les Portes du Soleil, one of the largest in the world with 600 km of connected slopes between France and Switzerland.

Les Gets retains an authentic Savoyard village spirit, with wooden chalets, lively streets, and a warm atmosphere that blends Alpine tradition and modernity. Its carefully designed architecture and hospitality set it apart within the ski area, offering a human, elegant, and deeply mountainous experience.

An exceptional ski area

The Les Gets ski area stretches between 1,172 and 2,002 meters, with 120 km of slopes that connect directly to Morzine. The slopes are wide, varied, and perfectly maintained, offering ideal terrain for both beginners and expert skiers.

The Ranfoilly sector stands out for its panoramic views of Mont Blanc, while the Les Chavannes and Mont-Chéry slopes offer more peaceful itineraries through the woods.

The dual orientation of the domain—sunny to the south and snowy to the north—guarantees excellent snow quality throughout the season.

A paradise for families

Les Gets is certified with the Famille Plus Montagne label, a recognition that rewards its special attention to families.

It has snow gardens, sledding areas, a children’s village with themed slopes, nurseries, and a network of instructors specializing in beginners.

Its human scale and functional design make it easy to get around on foot or on skis from your accommodation to the ski lifts, making your stay comfortable and safe.

Modernity, tradition, and sustainability

The resort has positioned itself as a model of sustainable tourism with a low ecological footprint.

Les Gets has implemented an ambitious energy transition plan that includes:

  • 100% renewable energy for its ski lifts,
  • reducing the use of artificial snow,
  • electric mobility and selective waste collection in the town center,
  • and the creation of an “eco-pastoral park” to preserve local biodiversity. These efforts have earned it the Flocon Vert label, a symbol of environmental commitment in mountain resorts.

The Mont-Chéry domain: the secret gem

The south-facing Mont-Chéry sector is one of the most popular areas for experienced skiers and photographers. Its wide, uncrowded slopes with direct views of Mont Blanc offer a more exclusive experience, ideal for carving or contemplative skiing sessions.

It also has safe off-piste routes and controlled freeride areas, perfect for those seeking thrills without compromising on safety.

Beyond skiing

Les Gets is also a four-season destination. In winter, it offers activities such as snowshoeing, skating, paragliding, ski touring, and wellness in an alpine spa.

During the summer, it transforms into a mountain biking paradise. Its Bikepark, part of the international UCI Mountain Bike World Cup circuit, attracts elite athletes and amateurs alike every year.

The resort is committed to the concept of “Les Gets, Montagne de Vie,” which promotes a healthy, active, and nature-friendly lifestyle.

Heritage, gastronomy, and art of living

The village has a Museum of Mechanical Music, a symbol of its cultural identity, and high-quality cuisine that combines local products with creative cooking.

Gourmet restaurants and chalets, such as those in the Mont-Caly area, offer culinary experiences with unparalleled views. Savoyard tradition is elegantly expressed here, from AOP cheeses to Chablais wines.

Accessibility and comfort

Les Gets is 1 hour from Geneva, 25 minutes from Cluses, and 10 minutes from Morzine, making it an ideal resort for short breaks or family stays.

It offers a wide range of hotels and chalets, from charming accommodations to four-star hotels with spas and direct access to the slopes.

Expert tips

  • For unique views of Mont Blanc, ski at sunrise in the Ranfoilly sector.
  • Avoid the crowds by exploring Mont-Chéry: wide slopes, sunshine, and tranquility.
  • Take advantage of the shared ski lifts to connect to Morzine and Avoriaz: the Portes du Soleil ski pass gives you access to the entire domain.
  • If you’re traveling with your family, the children’s village of Les Chavannes is a must-see.

A resort with soul and balance

Les Gets combines the best of the French Alps: an authentic village, a quality ski area, a sustainable environment, and warm hospitality.

On its slopes, Savoyard tradition blends with modernity, and skiing is enjoyed with pleasure, elegance, and respect for the mountains.

It is undoubtedly one of the most inspiring resorts in the Portes du Soleil ski area.
