The Las Araucarias ski resort is located in the Araucanía Region (Chile), 82 km from Temuco. It is the closest ski resort to the capital. The Las Araucarias ski resort is located on the western slope of the Llaima volcano, in the sector called “Los Paraguas”. The ski slopes

The Las Araucarias ski resort has a skiable area of 350 hectares, with altitudes ranging from 1,550 meters to 1,950 meters. It also has 3 ski lifts to facilitate the ascent. In addition, it has extensive skiable areas, suitable for all types of skiers, beginners, intermediate and advanced. Its 12 slopes are spread over 15 km, including 3 easy slopes (10 km), 7 intermediate slopes (4 km) and 2 difficult slopes (1 km).

Activities at the ski resort

At the Las Araucarias ski resort it’s not all about skiing and snowboarding. The Winter Center, apart from snowboarding and randonee championships, offers activities for all tastes. You can go on snowshoe excursions to enjoy the landscape offered by Conguillío National Park, paragliding, themed dinners with views of the Llaima volcano, torchlight descents in the middle of the night and karaoke competitions, among others.

The resort is notable for not having hotels on or near the ski slopes. But it has other options such as refuges right on the ski slopes.

Pehuén Refuge

This refuge is located at the foot of the slopes of the Las Araucarias ski resort. It is suitable for both group and individual accommodation. It is also a cozy place with all the amenities for a pleasant stay. It has heating, a kitchen, a living room and a dining room. It has a total capacity of 40 people.

Refugio Paraguas

This mountain refuge is located right on the slopes of the Las Araucarias ski resort. It has accommodation and a cafeteria. On the second floor they offer shared dormitories with a capacity for 16 and 20 people. Additionally, there is an apartment for 6 people.

Araucarias Building

This building is located in the Las Araucarias ski resort. It has ski lockers, an exclusive bar with a fireplace and a lounge. It also has a games room and central heating. In addition, additional services are offered such as themed dinners, activities for children, etc.
