Squaw Valley ski resort
For three years, voted the best ski resort in North America and the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley’s legacy has sustained a vibrant ski culture and mountain energy that extends from the village at the foot of the slopes, to the top of its colossal mountains.
Your spirit of outdoor adventure is reflected in the views of the translucent waters of Lake Tahoe. Beginners will find indulgent learning zones nestled among spectacular alpine scenery, while the sweeping slopes, potholes and bowls will be geared towards the more athletic skiers and snowboarders. With constant snowfall that lasts well into spring, Squaw Valley boasts one of the longest ski and snowboard seasons in the country. The views from its slopes to Lake Tahoe will leave you stunned!
Its maximum altitude is 2760m above sea level and it has 4,000 hectares of land and six peaks above 2,000 meters. A very famous snow destination for its off-piste and the large amounts of snow that accumulates every season. Its more than 170 tracks, we will have a multitude of options for all tastes, from extreme riders to families, they will find their place in this great ski area in California.
Sustainable development of the Squaw Valley ski resort
When Squaw presented the challenge to its energy supplier, Liberty Utilities, they were prepared to go their separate ways in case their proposal was not supported. It turned out that Liberty’s plans to use renewable energy were directly related to Squaw’s, so it made sense to work with one of their biggest customers to make the switch.
DID YOU KNOW THAT SQUAW VALLEY ALPINE MEADOWS WILL BE THE FIRST SKI RESORT TO BE POWERED 100% BY RENEWABLE ENERGY?
The resort will get all of its energy from a massive 60 megawatt solar array (enough to power more than 1,200 homes) and then pay a premium to Liberty Utilities for every kilowatt hour that is not supplied by the solar array. Liberty Utilities then uses this capital to stimulate clean energy production, enabling other businesses and customers to access renewable energy on a smaller scale. Plans for the entire programme are on the desk of the State of California and are expected to be approved within the next two months.
Unforgettable experiences in Squaw Valley
The inner tube is located in the SnoVentures activity area in the Squaw Valley base area, near the car park. Play in the snow, bond with family and friends, and then warm up at the SnoVentures Lodge next to all the snow play. The SnoVentures activity area also offers snow tubing on certain nights!
Glide on the resort’s outdoor rink with a view of Squaw Valley’s six peaks, then warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. You can rent figure skates and hockey skates, as well as helmets. The rink is open daily and operates in two “sessions”. It closes for five hours between sessions to refresh and clean the ice.

Discover Squaw Valley’s most emblematic rock face, The Tram Face, on the newly opened Via Ferrata routes run by local guide service, Alpenglow Expeditions. Learn to navigate the rock face on the protected climbing route with permanent steel anchors and cables that keep participants safely connected to the rock at all times.
Disc golf is played much like traditional golf. Rather than a ball and clubs, though, players play with a spinning disc. This sport shares with “ball golf” the goal of completing each hole in as few strokes as possible (or, in the case of disc golf, as few throws as possible). Trees, bushes and changes in the terrain around the fairways provide challenging obstacles for the golfer. Finally, the putt lands in the basket and the hole is finished.
