Región: Dorotea Mountain Range
The Valdelén ski resort is located only 4 km from the centre of Río Turbio. Set in the Dorotea mountain range, the characteristics of its slopes keep the snow in powder almost all day long. A lenga forest and the magnificent surrounding hills and ravines are part of the centre’s main attraction. When the season arrives, Argentinean and Chilean skiers come from far away to enjoy its family style and the diversity of activities that can be practised in the middle of a breathtaking landscape.
Valdelén ski resort
The Valdelén ski resort, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding are the specialities that stand out in its well signposted slopes. Only skiing in the forest is restricted for safety reasons. One of its three slopes has been illuminated and has the value of being the first of its kind in South America. This makes it possible to ski until late in the afternoon and to make the most of the day.
At the Valdelén ski resort there is no need to make artificial snow because nature has provided it with exceptional snow which, together with the magical nights, puts it at the forefront of the ski resorts in Patagonia.
The ski slopes
The skiable surface of the resort is 100 hectares and its powder snow is the envy of many other ski resorts. It has a maximum altitude of 850 metres and a minimum of 700 metres (a difference in altitude of 150 metres). It also has 2.5 km of skiable slopes, including 4 easy and 6 intermediate slopes. Despite being a fairly small resort in size, it offers everything you need to feel comfortable and enjoy its slopes.
Activities in the ski resort
In addition to downhill skiing and snowboarding, the Valdelén ski resort offers snowmobile circuits and toboggan runs for the more adventurous.
