Val d’Allos | Espace Lumiere

Val d’Allos is a ski resort located in the southern French Alps, in the region Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (department 04). A magnificent destination for tourists in search of the snow, it is composed of the valley of Allos-La Foux, Val d’Allos-Le Seignus and Val d’ Allos-Village. Visit Espace Lumiére and enjoy the wide-open spaces of Val d’Allos, the only French resort directed by a woman.

There, you will discover the immensity of its mountain ranges, all in the heart of the Mercantour National Park. Without a doubt, we are talking about one of the largest French ski resorts in the Southern Alps, located just two and a half hours from Nice airport.

The Val d’Allos ski domain

Located in the Southern Alps, department of Alpes de Haute Provence, you have a rendezvous with several connected resorts: La Foux, Le Seignus and Le village. A three-part alpine ski resort… two ski resorts and a village! This is what makes the Val d’Allos so original.

The first two are two complementary resorts while the third is a traditional mountain village. Sister resorts, 7 km apart, Val d’Allos Le Seignus and Val d’Allos La Foux emphasise their complementarity and their splendid ski area. Note: it is possible to travel free of charge from one resort to the other thanks to the various shuttles available.

Val d’Allos – La Foux is the high mountain of the Southern Alps.

Its joint ski area with Pra-Loup will enchant the sporty and experienced skier. Built at an altitude of 1800 m, its all-wooden architecture is unique. There are no skyscrapers or concrete cubes here, only chalets and small tourist residences nicely dressed in wood.

With 180 kilometres of slopes, Val d’Allos – la Foux and its Espace Lumière area are among the largest ski areas in France. With slopes winding through larch forests, curves in the valleys, and untouched spaces, the Val d’Allos ski areas are up to everyone’s expectations, from the most experienced skier to the beginner.

Be careful, if you take the Espace Lumière link, remember to check the lift timetable… In addition to a pleasant climate and plenty of sunshine, Val d’Allos-La Foux has the friendly charm of a traditional ski resort. All the buildings in this small winter sports village are built of wood and stone in the typical style of the region. They provide the perfect backdrop for an intimate ski holiday.

In addition, thanks to its numerous care offers and activities for children and parents, Val d’Allos is able to satisfy the wishes of every family. As such, the resort holds the “Famille Plus Montagne” label.

After a good day’s skiing, why not continue with activities such as snowshoeing, snow scooters, ice driving, ice skating, speedriding… Unless you prefer a cinema session or a guided tour of the village. The less sporty will enjoy their stay in the mountains to relax and unwind…

To talk about an activity, what could be better than dedicating an event?

The weekend of February 8 was the “L’Obs by night” event, a spectacular night-time ski run. The 220 participants undertook a dry climb of 767 m high, and 3.4 km away, from the snow front to the top of the Observatory.

With a start every 20 seconds, this night race offers a spectacle for the eyes with a mountain gradually lit with lights towards the summits.
