The Saint Lary Soulan ski area
As soon as you arrive, you will be charmed by the village. Saint-Lary Soulan, with its stone houses and slate roofs, reflects the authenticity of the Pyrenean villages. You will be enchanted by this mountain village and its mayor, Jean-Henri Mir. The town planning has been carefully preserved, ensuring harmony between the buildings and the exceptional natural setting. Under the leadership of Mayor Jean-Henri Mir, the resort continues to evolve while respecting its identity.
The ski area, one of the largest in the French Pyrenees, is constantly being improved. A new high-performance ski lift has recently replaced the old Bouleaux chairlift, quadrupling transport capacity to 3,600 people per hour over a distance of 1,700 metres in just six minutes.
The ski area covers three complementary sectors. Saint-Lary Village (830 m) charms visitors with its warm and lively atmosphere, typical of the valley floor. Higher up, Saint-Lary 1700 – Pla d’Adet is the family-friendly heart of the resort, while Saint-Lary 1900 – Espiaube offers long, challenging slopes that are ideal for experienced skiers, all with breathtaking views of the Pyrenees.
Saint Lary Soulan: a village resort connected to the ski area by two urban lifts
Saint-Lary Soulan charms visitors with its combination of authentic village life and modern accessibility. Thanks to two urban lifts, including the Pic Lumière gondola lift, holidaymakers can reach the slopes directly from the village centre in just 8 minutes. This seamless link between accommodation and the ski area makes stays much easier, especially for families.
But Saint-Lary is not just about skiing: the village is also a haven of well-being. Its Sensoria Rio thermal spa invites you to relax in a space inspired by the Pyrenean canyons. Waterfalls, massage jets, geysers, jacuzzis, sauna, hammam… everything has been designed for optimal recovery after exercise. The naturally warm thermal waters, renowned for their benefits, make Sensoria an essential stop on your stay.

The vast, well-maintained ski area covers 100 kilometres of marked slopes spread over 700 hectares, with 56 slopes suitable for all levels. The 28 ski lifts, some of which are new, ensure a good flow even during busy periods. Snow cover is reinforced by more than 290 snow cannons, guaranteeing good conditions throughout the season.
Beginners are not left out, thanks to secure beginner areas, while freestyle enthusiasts will enjoy one of the best snowparks in the Pyrenees, which is regularly maintained and suitable for all levels. In addition to skiing, there are many après-ski activities such as snowshoeing, village entertainment and restaurants serving local specialities, all of which enrich the experience for a complete holiday with friends or family.
The Saint Lary Soulan ski resort is committed to sustainable development.
Preserved from wars and the industrial revolution, the Aure Valley enjoys an exceptional natural setting, unchanged for centuries thanks to a history spared from major conflicts and mass industrialisation. Listed as a Land of Art and History, the valley is also crossed by one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela, highlighting its rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
The inhabitants, who are deeply attached to their territory, have made sustainable development a priority.
More than 80% of the territory is now protected, including natural parks, forest areas and preserved agricultural spaces.
The municipality has therefore implemented several concrete measures to limit its ecological footprint while enhancing the quality of life.
In terms of energy, Saint-Lary has invested in innovative and responsible infrastructure. Mountain refuges are now equipped with photovoltaic solar panels that supply these often isolated locations with clean energy. In addition, the resort has acquired new-generation snow machines that consume much less electricity, thereby reducing their environmental impact while ensuring optimal snow cover. The town hall also pursues a rigorous policy of optimising energy consumption, notably through the renovation of public buildings and the use of low-energy LED lighting.
In terms of waste management, the resort offers an efficient and widely accessible system: there are more than ten collection points for glass, and each household has dedicated containers for sorting plastics, metals, paper and cardboard. In addition, an annual clean-up day brings together residents and visitors for a collective waste collection on the slopes and trails, usually organised in July, raising awareness of the importance of preserving this exceptional area.
Unforgettable experiences in Saint Lary Soulan
In Saint-Lary Soulan, moments spent sharing nature and animals take on a whole new meaning thanks to the Repaire des Huskys, a unique place dedicated to the well-being of dogs and their visitors. This centre offers two distinct experiences, accessible to anyone who wants to connect with these magnificent companions.
The first activity, an educational discovery session open to all, includes a grooming session, observation of the pack roaming freely in a secure park, and the opportunity to feed the huskies. It is a simple and authentic immersion in the company of these animals.
For those aged 8 and over, the supervised Doggy Walk offers a guided walk lasting between 30 minutes and an hour. After choosing a dog based on compatibility, everyone sets off on a walk before returning to the park for a relaxing end to this fun and friendly experience.

For snow sports, the Saint-Lary 2400 snowpark is a real benchmark in the Pyrenees. Located at the exit of the Col de Portet cable car, this site enjoys ideal sun exposure, offering the perfect setting for freestyle skiing and snowboarding, as well as for capturing superb photos with the Pyrenean peaks in the background. The snowpark has around twenty modules (jumps, boxes, rails and other features) spread over several lines suitable for all levels, from beginners to experts. Equipped with its own ski lift and powered by a modern fleet of snow cannons, it guarantees optimal conditions throughout the season.
