Sustainable development of the Plan de Corones ski resort
In an effort to use energy and water in the most sustainable way possible,
the Plan de corones has adopted a series of measures that have made the ski area as one of the most environmentally conscious winter sports areas in the world.
Renewable energy-powered lifts, noiseless snow cannons and self-propelled snow grooming machines have been implemented in the station to ensure that the resources needed for skiing are used sparingly and sustainably at the Plan de Corones.
Wherever possible, the thirty-two ski lifts and gondolas and the approximately five hundred snow guns on South Tyrol’s first ski mountain are run on renewable energy from hydroelectric power. This is why the Corones Plan has been awarded the “Green Energy Logo” several times in recent years.

Unforgettable experiences in Plan de Corones
Sledding the need to to climb up
There are two possibilities for those who appreciate their comfort and want to skip a long climb on foot in the Plan de Corones ski area.
Whether you decide to descend down the Korer or the Cianross toboggan, you can easily go up to the top of both runs with a cable car.
You will not be “huffing and puffing” once you are at the top, and you will be as fresh as a pine tree ready for some sledding action.

Kid’s Safety Park
The Kids’s Safety Park is a closed-off section of the Olang 2 ski slope and is found underneath the Alpen Connecting mountain terminal. With its slalom run, its numerous bends and tunnels, and even a castle, the park offers plenty of fun, and is an ideal place for those young skiers who are to have their first experience on the slopes.
But above all, the Kids’s Safety Park is a high-quality learning facility in which the ski instructors use a playful way to give children a better sense of the correct behaviour on the ski runs.

Paragliding over the Val Pusteria
Flying is a time-honoured tradition on the Plan de Corones-Kronplatz. Situated in the centre of the Val Pusteria-Pustertal valley, the mountain is easily accessible by cable car. It offers excellent flying conditions and a fantastic panoramic views of the Dolomites on one side and the main ridge of the Alps on the other.
The best thing about this sport is that you don’t have to master it on your own. Two-seater pilots are happy to take control and manage almost everything by themselves. It is enough to run a few metres on take-off and landing and for the rest, you will simply float in the air above the Val Pusteria.

Paragliding over the Val Pusteria
The Plan de Corones is not only regarded as THE spot for sports and adventure sports lovers in winter, but the numerous free-ride opportunities make the Plan de Corones a hotspot for sports enthusiasts in the summer as well. Free-riders can choose among 6 different tracks: one easy to medium difficulty route, two with a medium level of difficulty and three challenging tracks for professional free-riders.
The uphill climb is done by one of the cable cars from the valley stations at Reischach, Valdaora, at the Furkelpass and at San Vigilio di Marebbe. There are two trails that are not accessible by cable car, however.

Adrenaline is definitely guaranteed!

Skiing at Kronplatz: the resort’s highlights
Located in the north of Trentino-Alto Adige, between the Pusteria and Badia valleys, Kronplatz is one of the most iconic ski destinations in the Dolomiti Superski area.
Its characteristic rounded peak, visible from miles away, is home to one of the most spectacular panoramic platforms in the Alps, with 360° views of the Dolomites and the Zillertal Alps.
Unlike other resorts, Kronplatz does not extend over several valleys, but concentrates its 120 km of slopes on a single, perfectly connected mountain, offering a smooth, logical, and uninterrupted skiing experience.
120 km of perfect slopes
The domain has 32 state-of-the-art lifts, capable of transporting more than 70,000 people per hour, and 120 km of slopesthat descend to three main bases: Brunico (Bruneck), Riscone (Reischach), San Vigilio di Marebbe, and Perca. The slopes are impeccably groomed and 100% covered with state-of-the-art artificial snow. The varied orientation of the slopes means you can find powder snow or gentle sunshine at any time of day.
Featured slopes:
- Sylvester and Herrnegg, two long and technical descents to Brunico.
- Pre da Peres, with a gentle and panoramic profile.
- Miara, ideal for families.
- Piculin, the steepest slope, with a 72% gradient.
Ski World Cup venue
Every January, Plan de Corones hosts the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup on the Erta slope (San Vigilio di Marebbe), one of the most demanding on the circuit.
The event reinforces the resort’s reputation as an international technical and sporting benchmark.
A cultural and architectural summit
The summit of Plan de Corones, at 2,275 meters, is not just a place to ski: it is also a cultural and architectural center of reference.
There are two exceptional museums there:
- The Messner Mountain Museum Corones, designed by Zaha Hadid, dedicated to the history of mountaineering.
- The LUMEN Museum, a cutting-edge space that explores mountain photography.
Both museums, integrated into the rock and accessible on skis, make the experience unique: art, nature, and sport in one place.
Family, sustainability, and comfort
Plan de Corones is a pioneer in sustainability: its ski lifts run on 100% renewable energy, and its environmental management system is certified under ISO 14001. Direct rail connections from Bolzano or Innsbruck (to Perca station) encourage car-free access. Families will find playgrounds, snow nurseries, and wide, perfectly safe slopes. Its modernity and logistical ease make it one of the most comfortable resorts in Europe.
Après-ski, gastronomy, and wellness
At Plan de Corones, après-ski combines Tyrolean style and Italian modernity.
Refuges such as the Corones Hütte, the AlpiNN Food Space & Restaurant (by Norbert Niederkofler, a chef with 3 Michelin stars) or the Cianross Hütte offer unique gastronomic experiences. At the base, Brunico buzzes with shops, bars, spas, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
