Mont Sutton is a ski Resort located in Quebec, Canada. It will take you less than 2 hours to get there from Montreal, it is situated only 130 kilometers away from this city, in the Green Mountain Nature Reserve.

Mont Sutton ski resort

60 years ago, when it was created, it was a family-run resort founded by the family Boulanger who owned the land.

It became a huge resort famous in the whole region one and close from the city. It is also well known for the snowfall and its forest, in fact half of the resort is covered with trees. The slopes are doomed over natural paths, in harmony with the shape of the mountain through the Nature Reserve.

The ski area Mont Sutton features slopes for all skiers but be careful with the junctions, there are more than 100 junctions between the slopes, it is easy to go on the wrong slope.

Mont Sutton is ideal for a quieter Quebec winter experience than Mont-Tremblant. This family-owned ski resort —that is perfect for couples— is renowned among skiers for its close-to-nature skiing. Among their many sustainable initiatives, Mont-Sutton regularly plants trees on slopes and along ski trails to further protect the environment for further generations to enjoy the ski slopes.

Sustainable development of the Mont Sutton ski resort

Nature Conservancy of Canada has protected nearly

5,700 hectares of natural areas in the Sutton Mountains, one of the last great wilderness areas in southern Quebec.

The acquisition of the Domtar property, which alone totals 4,044 hectares, is a major step forward for private conservation.

It is the largest private property dedicated to conservation in Quebec.

The conservation objective of the Sutton Mountains is to protect a territory large enough to maintain the natural processes that ensure the maintenance of biological diversity.

The Quebec government’s financial contribution to the project that Nature Conservancy is pursuing in the Sutton Mountains amounts to more than $3,800,000, a contribution equivalent to that of the organization and its partners. The government’s financial assistance was granted to the Nature Conservancy under the National Program for the Development of a Private Protected Areas Network.
