Méribel is the main resort of “Les 3 Vallées” ski area: located at 1.450 meters over sea level and made up at the heart of the 3 Valleys that represent the world’s largest ski area, with over 600kms. The Méribel ski resort has a total of 66 slopes, the majority of them being red and blue. It holds the world record for the resort with more quality, great capacity cable cars, allowing quick ascent to the summit at top speed with no waiting lines.

Méribel’s ski area is about 150kms size but the best part is that this resort is linked by slopes and lifts with Courchevel, Saint Martin de Belleville / Les Ménuires and Val Thorens.

Two slopes (La Face and Roc de Fer) have been used for Olympic events and FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup. In addition, there are 711 snow guns that cover 51% of the ski area to strenghten and improve the quality of the slopes.

Off-piste at Méribel ski resort

Méribel‘s best off-piste slopes are between Mont de la Chambre and Les Plattieres sectors, as well as at Mont Vallon‘s Summit (2952m). Another stunning off-pist start is Roc de Fer Summit. Visitors will also find wide, long green slopes for beginners.

Of note are the off-piste runs from the Saulire Summit for experts visiting Meribel, the excellent black runs at La Vizelle or Chanrossa, and other off-piste runs to Le Praz. The most difficult run is the Couloir Emilie Allais (Courchevel) with a 300 metre drop and a 35 degree gradient.

The longest run is the La Saulire run at Le Praz with a length of almost 7.7 kms and a vertical drop of 1438 metres. There are also some very good long and wide green runs which are not difficult and which allow you to improve your technique. The ideal area for beginners is between the Grive piste and the Arpasson restaurant.

Sustainable development of the Méribel ski resort

In the 3 Valleys, everyone involved is aware of the need to protect its natural heritage, and the development of the ski area is an example of this. In terms of artificial snow, it is important to remember that in France it is made up solely of air and water, no additives are used, unlike in other countries.

IN THE 3 VALLEYS, THE SNOW GUNS ARE OF THE LATEST GENERATION AND ALLOW SIGNIFICANT SAVINGS IN WATER AND ELECTRICITY WHILE OPTIMISING PERFORMANCE.

It should also be noted that the water used for the snow guns is treated by UV to eliminate any bacterial or microbial risk.
