Killington Resort

Killington is a popular ski resort in North America. It is located in Vermont, in the heart of the Green Mountains, a range which goes up to Quebec from the Massachusetts. Famous for being one of the largest resorts of the region, it has six mountains with different characteristics and is nicknamed ‘The Beast of the East’.

Killington Ski Resort

Killington: “The Beast of the East”

Nicknamed “The Beast of the East”, Killington is a ski area with many attractions for its visitors. It has many ski slopes for beginners and experts. It is a ski resort that, despite having many slopes for expert skiers or skiers of a good level, can be a paradisiacal place for families.

There are many activities adapted for the little ones, including a nursery available in the resort itself so that parents can enjoy the slopes with complete peace of mind that their son or daughter is safe and having a good time. The many kilometres of the ski area are connected by 22 lifts. Snowboarders and freestyle skiers can have fun in the 6 snow parks and snowparks.

The nickname “The Stash” is the most popular, as it is totally natural and the downhill runs through an impressive circuit of bumps and natural jumps. The special feature of this resort is the length of the season, which lasts from mid-October to mid-May and is one of the longest of all ski resorts in the United States. It is not for nothing that Killington has been the first resort to open on the East Coast of the United States for several seasons, as was the case in 2015.

Killington, as well as many other winter resorts, offer many activities to do during the winter in order to fight the seasonality of the snow business. A huge ski area in the USA, full of surprises that we highly recommend from I LOVE SKI.

Sustainable development of Killington Resort ski resort

Killington ski resort has significantly reduced its non-renewable energy consumption over the past few years, having installed 14 AllEarth solar panels and three rooftop solar installations that, combined, generate approximately 200,000 kWh of sustainable electricity per year.

It has also partnered with Namaste Solar to operate four solar farms in Vermont. The electricity generated is enough to power all the ski lifts at the resort.

In addition, the Vermont resort operates and utilises a wide range of snow gun technology to provide long snow seasons. As a result, 72% of the annual snowmaking hours are delivered by energy-efficient snow guns.

To top it all off, the ski resort has 47 electric vehicle chargers,

has 47 electric vehicle chargers throughout the resort, encouraging the use of electric cars and scooters,

so that the snow is not damaged by what is expelled by conventional vehicles.

Finally, its food and beverage service has partnered with Vermont Grow Compost to prevent food waste and kitchen waste from going to landfill.
