Crested Butte

The town of Crested Butte in Colorado sits atop the West Elk Mountains of the Rockies, close to the Echo Mountain resort and less than a five-hour drive from Denver. The first populations settled in this area of the Rockies by the coal mines, however in the middle of the 20th century they had to reinvent themselves and took advantage of the magnificent mountains of the region.

The Victorian architecture of the town gives a differential touch to this dynamic population both in winter and summer.

Crested Butte: extreme ski paradise

The size of the ski area at Crested Butte Mountain Resort is not very large when compared to other resorts in Colorado and its resort does not exude luxury and fragrance through its streets. It is a small town, loaded with authenticity that has a very attractive resort, but once you enter the off-piste and extreme areas, the ski resort feels much larger than the statistic.

The vertical drop of the station is 845 meters and there are many slopes dedicated to intermediate level skiers. However, we should not be misled, this magnificent winter resort has a double black diamond category slopes that are the authentic signature of the ski resort. At altitude, we will find very steep and rocky tracks with the same appearance as the European stations in the Alps. For this reason, the mountain resort is home to several extreme free ski championships, it is an extreme ski paradise!

The 7.5 meters of snow accumulated each season makes it an almost guaranteed snow destination, although to alleviate the effects of climate change it has installed a complete network of artificial snowfall to reinforce the most strategic areas and connections of the skiable domain.

The immense variety of downhill, cross country and extreme skiing that Crested Butte offers from its 9,375 feet of altitude. You won’t have to search far to find ski-in / ski-out accommodations, as there are large private homes and condos with direct access to the ski slopes and dreamy views of the Crested Butte Mountains.
