Only two years after designation as a National Park in 2005,

the Cairngorms was the first National Park in the UK to be awarded the Charter on the basis of its first five-year tourism strategy and action plan.

In 2011 and once again in 2017 a further assessment was made on the basis of what had been delivered in the previous five years, as well as its strategy and action plans for the next five years.
