The Alpe du Grand Serre ski area
The Alpe du Grand Serre ski resort was created in 1938 under the name ‘La Morte’. Its name was changed in the 1960s. The SAGASA ski lift company, created by enthusiasts from Grenoble and Saint-Étienne with the support of the municipality, undertook the construction of the Petit Mollard ski lift.
Historically managed by the municipality of La Morte, the ski area was operated between 2004 and 2014 by the Société d’Aménagement du Tourisme de l’Alpe d’Huez et des Grandes Rousses. From 2015 onwards, things changed and the resort regained more independence. SATA Group AEON believes in the opportunity to create a new economic model for the future of the mountains through the Alpe du Grand Serre. With this vision, the Alpe du Grand Serre could become an example for medium-sized resorts in the French Alps seeking to strike a balance between tourist appeal and respect for the environment.

Invisible from the top of the resort, the Alpe du Grand Serre ski area stretches around the Pérollier massif, which rises to over 2,184 metres above sea level. With a vertical drop of 817 metres, the walk to the resort can be tedious!
The ski slopes of Alpe du Grand Serre

This is an interesting resort for all levels of skiing. During your stay, you can enjoy the beauty of the area, slopes of varying difficulty, nature trails and a slope that runs through what must be a river in summer.

The Alpe du Grand Serre ski resort is committed to sustainable development
Several ski resorts, including Alpe du Grand Serre, have signed a charter committing themselves to managing and developing their winter facilities in a sustainable manner.
“By having as little impact on the environment as possible and managing their electricity efficiently.”
The charter specifically sets out the principles of sustainable development and organisation for resorts, citing transport, energy, water, agriculture, nature conservation and the environment in particular.
For 10 years, the signatory mountain resorts will focus on implementing commitments relating to land use, housing, landscape, water, energy, waste and transport, all within the ski and mountain resort sector.
For example, they will adopt several measures such as limiting the number of ski lift towers, integrating the slopes as much as possible into the surrounding environment and promoting balanced water and energy management.
