The small town of Adelboden keeps all of its traditions, from its gentle people to its wooden houses. The ski domain formed by Adelboden and Lenk is not particularly known around the world, but it sure is one of the most charming places to be found in the Alps, thanks to its wonderful valley and slopes, suitable for all levels.
In Adelboden you’ll find Engstligenalp (2.400 m), with its intermediate difficulty slopes, for free ride skiing only. On top of Frutigen there’s Elsigbach, with more than 20 km of slopes, and then there’s Leiterli (1960 m), with its 1000 meters of vertical drop. A total of 85 slopes make a 170 km ski domain, 90% of it being for begginer and intermediate levels. Adelboden has 42 skilifts. It’s definetely a suitable resort for begginer and intermediate skiers, as well as snowboarders.

Skiing in Adelboden: the resort’s highlights
Adelboden is a classic mountain resort, surrounded by wide valleys and rugged peaks that form a spectacular natural amphitheater. At an altitude of 1,350 meters and with peaks reaching 2,400 meters, it offers guaranteed quality snow throughout the season. It is part of the Adelboden-Lenk ski area, one of the largest in the canton of Bern, with 210 km of perfectly maintained and connected slopes.

The ski area combines family-friendly sections, technical descents, and wide panoramic areas ideal for carving. Among its most emblematic spots are:
- The Silleren-Chuenisbärgli sector, home to the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup.
- The Metschstand area, with wide, sunny slopes and excellent views of the Wildhorn.
- The quieter Elsigenalp-Frutigen area, perfect for families and beginners.
The 70 modern ski lifts ensure a quick and smooth connection between the different valleys, with options for all levels.
Tradition and authentic Swiss atmosphere
Adelboden retains its rural identity and traditional wooden architecture, which blends elegantly into the landscape. The village is welcoming, with family-run hotels, typical chalets, and a warm atmosphere that invites you to enjoy both skiing and relaxation. The pedestrian streets offer shops selling local products, alpine cheeses, pastry shops, and restaurants serving fondues, rösti, or mountain trout dishes.
Home of the Ski World Cup
Every January, Adelboden becomes the epicenter of world skiing with the classic FIS World Cup race on the Chuenisbärgli slope, one of the most technical and demanding on the calendar. This event attracts thousands of spectators and confirms Adelboden’s reputation as an elite resort with a strong sporting tradition.
Freeriding and winter activities
Beyond alpine skiing, the valley offers controlled freeride routes and safe areas for cross-country skiing. Nordic enthusiasts have more than 20 km of cross-country ski trails at their disposal, as well as winter hiking trails and snowshoe circuits. You can also enjoy sledding, ice skating, and scenic cable car rides.

Adelboden combines its alpine village atmosphere with refined cuisine.
High-altitude refuges, such as the Bergrestaurant Sillerenbühl or the Metschstand Hütte, offer regional cuisine with unparalleled views. In the village, several hotels have spas and wellness centers with heated outdoor pools and views of the valley.
