Boí Taüll: spa and Natural Park
In addition to being a ski resort, Boí Taüll is a resort that starts with the American concept of ski resort; offering a full range of services, all facilites and options for relaxation and leisure at high altitude. It offers the Augusta SPA, where a variety of welness offers and the typical water circuits, saunas, etc. are offered.
As for the environment of the resort, it must be remarked that it is a unique location because of the views and natural landscapes that can be observed. The proximity of the Natural Park of Aigüestortes and the lake of San Maurcio complements the tourism offer in the area.
The surroundings of the resort are full of nature jewels like the Aigüestortes National Park. It must be pointed out that, in addition to calm, skiing and postcard landscapes, the Vall de Boí Taüll brings together one of the most important cultural legacies not only of Catalonia, but of the country of Spain. In fact, it has nine Romanesque churches of the eleventh and twelfth centuries, authentic medieval jewels that were declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
To get to this small resort, you can use different types of transportation. However, it is a very mountainous area, so direct communications with the resort are limited to the car or bus. It is accessible from highway or freeway from Barcelona or Lleida. From the Pont Suert you can take a bus that will leave you right at the base of the slopes.
Unique features of the complex
If Boí Taüll resort is commendable for anything, it is because of its policy regarding the kids; they have an excellent snow park designed by and for them, but also to those who stay at the resort, it offers a Childcare service in the afternoon, Guini Club.
Boí Taüll has situation characteristics (orientation) that allows it to have snow when other nearby resorts do not have it. Curiously, when most other areas of the Pyrenees and especially those that benefit from the fronts that come from the North, are running low on snow, it usually happens that Boí Taüll does. The group of slopes on which the slopes of Boí are located with north orientation (from northwest to northeast) making an arc; this and its altitude allows the good conservation of snow, but the main fronts that most affect it come from the South, Southwest and West that collide with the surrounding mountains. Causing significant snowfalls as it is the first major obstacle that the clouds encounter when they reach the Pyrenees from the Peninsula. In Spain only Sierra Nevada and Cerler have similar conditions, Cerler in the Pyrenees is largely subject to the same meteorological conditions as Boí Taüll.
