Baqueira Beret is a ski resort located in the Val d’Aran and Valls d’Àneu. A ski area that offers skiers and snowboarders up to 160 km of slopes and 5 km of paths and routes with untreated snow. Thanks to the creation of the new Baciver area, added to the three historic Baqueira, Beret and Bonaigua.

Baqueira consists of three main areas: the first, Baqueira, is the classic, the original, the pioneer; the second, Bonaigua, to the east, is somewhat more complicated, which would fit more expert skiers. Beret, on the other hand, is very recommended for families and beginners, since they are mostly soft slopes. All have their parking area.

Situation and location of Baqueira

Baqueira Beret, inaugurated on December 6 1964, is located in the Aran Valley, province of Lleida. Since 2003 part of its trails run through the neighboring valley, the Aneu Valley, on the other side of the Puerto de la Bonaigua. It is the only Spanish resort located on the northern side of the Pyrenees.

The most important population is Viella, capital of the Vall d’Aran, it is a modern and beautiful city, with many services, restaurants and shops. Spaces for walking and even a good offer of apress-ski activities, such as the ice skating rink, the sturgeon farm in Era or the Banhs de Tredós Spa.

From the resort you can see mountain peaks that exceed 3000 meters high, such as Maladeta and Aneto. The mountains of Cap de Vaquèira and Tuc deth Dossau are the highest points of the resort. The winter alternative offer to skiing includes horse or dog sled rides, excursions to the semi-abandoned village of Montgarri, cross-country skiing and snow raquet and snowmobiling.

Resort layout

The Baqueira nucleus received its last major investment in 2009 with the start-up of an underground parking. 1500 seats with direct access to the Baqueira gondola and the commercial galleries of the new Val de Ruda urbanization.

The highest point of the resort is the Cap de Baciver with 2,610 m. Offering incredible views of the Pyrenees. The Val d’Aran is known for its natural environment but also for the great snowfalls  in this unique enclave. The rivers Garona and Noguera Pallaresa, cross the valley surrounded by peaks that border the 3.000 meters high and in where we will find more than two hundred lakes.

Baqueira Beret, 160km of slopes

Its large forests of fir trees, pines and beech trees, design an exceptional skiable domain environment crowned from its top at 2510m altitude. The so-called «» kings resort«», is also famous for being the ski resort chosen for years, by the Spanish Royal family and other personalities. Its more than 160Km of slopes are perfectly conditioned, its more than 1000mts of vertical drop and practically 2000 hectares of skiable domain, offer countless tracks of all levels, in an environment of incomparable beauty.

One of the few Spanish ski resorts that has a west orientation, accumulating large amounts of snow every year thanks to the special microclimate of this mountain area. The Baqueira Beret ski resort offers a huge ski area of 2.273 Ha and its highest peak reaches 2.610 m.

Its excellent conditions allow you to enjoy unique freeride experiences in the Pyrenees that can be combined with a family ski in debuting areas or in the Fun Park.

The Aranese resort has been working really hard on freestyle for a few seasons; now has two snowparks, the Serra, for the less experienced, is an initiation space with several modules where to make our first steps. After the Comalada has higher level modules and is designed for high level skiers.


Gastronomy in Baqueira Beret

Baqueira Beret and good food go hand in hand. The resort has 25 restaurants and coffee shops on the slopes. onorable mentiton to the Moët Winter Lounge, that since 2019 has improved its services by offering culinary moments of the highest quality. To the before mentioned five thematic restaurants, there is more than 20 points of restoration on the slopes, as well as areas of aprés-ski and shopping that give the resort a great atmosphere and a high gastronomic level.

The ski lifts are being renewed progressively and although in periods of maximum influx, waiting times are assured, in general the transport is effective thanks to the 36 mechanical lifts that offer a flow of skiers exceeding 61.024 people / hour.


You can visit Baqueira Beret throughout the year. In summer, you will enjoy a corner full of nature and some villages with wonderful people that will welcome you and make you feel at home. The ski resort has been the final stage of great road cycling races such as the Tour of Spain or the Tour de France. The climb, which begins in the town of Viella, shares several kilometers with the ascent to the port of Bonaigua, so that you can climb from Viella or climb the Bonaigua by Esterri de Aneu and then, at the Baqueira crossing, do the final ascent to Beret plain.

If we talk strictly about skiing, nobody can deny that Baqueira Beret is one of the most recommended resorts in the Pyrenees. There are more than 165 kilometers of skiing (including the Baciver area), it has exceptional off-piste tracks such as the Escornacabres. 38 ski lifts that go up and down to 60 thousand people per hour, a snow of excellent quality (it is oriented to the northwest, to the Atlantic). The food is quite well in its restaurants, and if that were not enough, the landscapes of the Val d’Aran that surround it are of a dazzling beauty.
