Arêches – Beaufort is a ski resort and village in Beaufortain, located in the heart of Savoy, 20 km from Albertville. It is a privileged destination to share unique moments with family and friends, thanks to its exceptional and virgin landscape, its gastronomy with unmatched flavors and aromas, and its diversified activities. Inhabited and alive throughout the year, Arêches-Beaufort has the distinction of offering intimate mountain experiences, where heritage discovery, sports activities and delicacies are perfectly combined.

Location of the Arêches – Beaufort ski resort

The tradition of this area is considered a way of life and the  2000 inhabitants of the area are proud of its history, and the riches that flow from it, such as the Beaufort cheese (designation of origin), famous in the valley.

It has a strong heritage value. Arêches-Beaufort also offers all the charms of skiing without leaving the village: slopes that meander through the woods and pass along the mountain chalets, ski areas untreated for the delight of powder snow lovers. While Mont Blanc, in the background, completes a setting with a unique landscape. The resort offers alpine and Nordic skiing, but also permanently marked cross-country ski trails, to follow the footsteps of the great ski champions. It is ” THE ” mountain destination, for skiers looking for the perfect combination of varied skiing and reasonable prices; both for the forfait price and for non-ski leisure offer, accommodation and activities.

Its exceptional layer of snow and its elevation, among 1080 and 2300 meters above sea level, makes Arêches-Beaufort the favorite destination for skiers of all levels (50 km of slopes), as well as for ski races fans, like the famous Pierra Menta.

Arêches – Beaufort ski area

Located in the heart of the Beaufortain massif, the Arêches-Beaufort ski resort authorizes the practice of numerous sliding activities: skiing, snowboarding, freeride…

The area extends between 1080 and 2320 meters above sea level. It has about 50 km of slopes for all levels of practice. The tracks are divided into two main areas:

  • Arêches sector, extends towards the Col de la Forclaz (through the Cuvy) where mainly intermediate trails are drawn (green, blue and red)
  • Planay sector, which takes you to the Col des Combettes and hosts the most technical trails (mainly red).

Each of these two sectors offers a specially equipped “First Trace” area, totally dedicated to beginners.

From Freestyle Park to a Woodpark to a Baby Boarder and Espaces Première Trace, the Arêches Beaufort ski area will take up most of it. There are places reserved for all winter sports disciplines.

Fun Park and new winter sports disciplines

For freeriders, Arêches Beaufort is full of “secret” places (less and less secret as they are popular among off-piste ski enthusiasts) that allow them to tour exceptional landscapes.

Freestylers can try their luck at the BigAirBag (2m high, 50m wide and 11m long) that allows the practice of all kinds of figures in the air.  They will also be able to play in the Woodpark located in the Grand Mont sector (about twenty modules arranged to play in natural terrain). Finally, other modules (rails, boxes, tables, kickers and rings) are installed in the Freestyle Park (also in the Grand Mont sector, near the Grangettes ski lift).

The two sectors (Arêches and Planay), are reserved for those who start skiing. In Planay, the Fripons area with its 100 meter long magic carpet offers adequate conditions with a gentle slope, away from the flow of skiers. One side is reserved for learning skiers, and the other side allows sled enthusiasts to effortlessly climb the slope thanks to the magic carpet, to keep on sliding.

Cross-country and alpine ski

Arêches-Beaufort is the definitive ski and mountain resort. It has equipped trails, initiations, advanced training courses, specialized stays and legendary competitions; everything is there to be used, practice and enjoy skiing and its benefits.

The initiation takes place within the framework of the “Arêches Dynafit Experiences”: one and a half hour night runs supervised by mountain professionals, to familiarize themselves with the team and make their first tracks with seal and frontal skins.

Cross-country experience continues on marked and safe routes (from the simplest to the most technical). The Trace Bleue and Trace Rouge are 2 courses for beginners, and the Trace Pro Pro is aimed to more experienced skiers.  The Night Trace also let you practice on the slopes after closing.

Nordic Ski Area

Arêches-Beaufort minds about Nordic skiing lovers. The cross-country ski trails are divided into 2 areas:

  • Beaufort-Marcôt: Easy, on the edge of the Marcôt forest. It runs along the edge of a fir forest, a true invitation to contemplation. Trails on the plain, ideal for training and initiation.
  • The Bersend: it is a cross-country ski trail. Sloping track that runs through a typical, preserved and quiet village. It brings the opportunity to meet the rich and varied fauna that inhabits this natural environment: deer, chamois, foxes, martens …
