Unique sledding experience in Val Cenis, Vanoise.

There’s more than one way to ski the alps. Glide with traditional sleds formerly used by children to go to school or to help travellers pass through Mont Cenis in winter. It is a fun and charming experience offered by Paul and Cécile that began to offer “Paret” and sledges of yesteryear to skiers.

In addition, the villages of Haute Maurienne Vanoise are part of the “Let’s work for a mountain of comfort” program of the Savoy General Council. Sustainable development of the Val Cenis ski resort

In order to protect and preserve its natural environment, the Val Cenis ski area has had an Environmental Observatory since 2014.

ITS AIM IS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND AND THUS BETTER PRESERVE THE EXCEPTIONAL NATURAL HERITAGE OF THE RESORT.

This observatory is managed by the Karum consultancy, which each year conducts a survey of local biodiversity in terms of fauna, flora and landscape.

The objectives of the observatory are :
• To have a global vision of the environmental sensitivities of the ski area.
• Locate the issues in the ski area.
• Anticipate the environmental impacts of future developments in the ski area (avoid, reduce, compensate).
• Monitor the effectiveness of environmental actions implemented by the ski area.

Moreover, the Mayor of the new city of Val Cenis, Jacques Arnoux adds that: We must adapt to global warming but also to changes in society. Global warming can endanger ski resorts, but also society. We do not live in 2020 as in 1900. And in 30 years, leisure will evolve.

I don’t know if we can spend our holidays on the other side of the world with so many facilities. We must evolve towards tourism during the four seasons, where skiing is no longer the only economic engine, but gradually do so. We adapt and provide solutions constantly.

For this reason, they are constantly improving and even their renovations have the goal of reducing the carbon footprint.
