Safety and visibility are two key elements for fully enjoying winter sports. Wearing a ski helmet is now essential to protect your head in the event of a fall or collision, as is a good pair of ski goggles to protect your eyes from extreme conditions in the mountains. We tested the Bollé Keystone MIPS helmet (black, size M) and the Bollé Blackridge goggles (purple mirror lens) for you.

This high-end set, from the Bollé 2025-2026 selection, combines the latest technological advances in protection and comfort. Discover the features and benefits of this duo in this article.

Bollé Keystone MIPS: a helmet combining safety, innovation and comfort

The Bollé Keystone MIPS helmet stands out thanks to its modern design focused on skier safety. Equipped with MIPS technology (Multi-directional Impact Protection System), it offers enhanced protection against oblique impacts. In practical terms, MIPS adds a thin, low-friction layer inside the helmet that acts as a “sliding plane”, allowing the head and helmet to move slightly relative to each other in the event of a rotational impact.

This innovation significantly reduces the rotational forces transmitted to the brain, thereby reducing the risk of brain injury in the event of an angled fall. Independent studies have shown that helmets equipped with MIPS reduce head rotation speed by 26% and angular acceleration by 22% compared to a standard helmet. The Keystone MIPS therefore offers you a higher level of protection without adding weight to the helmet or compromising comfort.

Beyond MIPS, Bollé has incorporated other safety and comfort features into this model. The Keystone is constructed with a sturdy injection-moulded ABS hard shell, coupled with AViD Progressive EPS technology that optimises shock absorption. This is the first eco-designed Bollé helmet: its outer shell is made from recycled material as part of the brand’s “React for Good” programme. This means you get durable, environmentally friendly equipment without compromising on strength.

The helmet design is minimalist and functional, with an integrated visor (brim) that prevents snow from falling onto the face and ensures a seamless connection with the ski goggles. An elastic strap at the back secures the goggle strap, ensuring a perfect fit even during sudden movements. Bollé has thought of everything for comfort: the Keystone has a passive ventilation system that wicks away warm air and moisture to prevent excessive perspiration.

The inner lining is removable and washable, allowing you to keep the helmet clean season after season, and the ear pads are detachable to suit individual preferences (for example, removing them in milder weather). The occipital tightening is done via the Click-To-Fit dial system, which allows for precise adjustment to your head size for optimal support without pressure points. All these features make the Bollé Keystone MIPS a very comprehensive ski helmet, successfully combining high-level safety, everyday comfort and practicality.

In terms of how it felt on the ground, our test of the Keystone MIPS proved conclusive. From the very first try, the size M helmet proved to be well-fitting and comfortable, enveloping the head without compressing it. While skiing, we appreciated the helmet’s stability: thanks to the tightening dial and well-designed chin strap, the helmet stays in place even on rough terrain, while remaining comfortable to wear for hours on end.

Passive ventilation does its job discreetly. During intense effort, there is no excessive overheating, a sign that air is circulating well through the vents. Special mention should be made of the combination with the Bollé goggle: the rear elastic band keeps the helmet and goggle firmly in place. It is clear that this helmet has been designed to be used in conjunction with a Bollé goggle, which brings us to the second element of this set, the Blackridge goggle.

Bollé Blackridge: a ski goggle offering visual clarity and reliability

The Bollé Blackridge goggle is a technical and versatile ski goggle that pairs perfectly with the Keystone helmet. Designed without a visible frame (frameless design) and with a wide cylindrical lens, it maximises the skier’s field of vision. As soon as you put it on, you’ll appreciate its unobstructed panoramic vision, ideal for anticipating the terrain and spotting any obstacles to the sides.

The flexible, lightweight frame structure, combined with triple-density 3D Foam, ensures a soft fit on the face and a seal without pressure points. During our full-day testing, we forgot we were wearing the Blackridge: it fits snugly to the face without causing discomfort on the nose or cheekbones, a sign of well-designed ergonomics.

The model we tested is equipped with a Mirror Purple (amber-based purple mirror) screen in category S2. With a light transmission index (VLT) of approximately 25%, this screen offers an ideal compromise for intermediate brightness levels. In the field, this corresponds to partially sunny, cloudy days, or frequent changes in lighting (e.g. moving from a shaded area to a sunny slope). We found that this amber tint with mirror coating provides excellent contrast on snow without dazzling the eyes. The contours are clearly defined, even on hard snow or in areas with alternating light and shade, which inspires confidence when picking up speed.

In bright conditions, the purple mirror coating reduces the intensity of the sun, and in overcast conditions, the amber base prevents the vision from becoming too dark. The balance is perfect for versatile use. Of course, the lens filters out 100% of UV rays to protect your eyes in the high mountains, and it features an internal P80+ anti-fog treatment and an external Carbo Glas anti-scratch coating, ensuring durability and clear vision over the long term.

Beyond the lens itself, the Bollé Blackridge offers valuable features for comfort and performance. Its Flow-Tech ventilation system, integrated into the upper part of the goggle, helps channel airflow to disperse moisture and prevent fogging during exertion. During our descents, even during intense runs, we did not have to remove the goggles due to condensation: visibility remained clear at all times.

This result is due as much to effective ventilation as to good synergy with the helmet: the top of the mask fits perfectly under the Keystone visor, allowing air to circulate without creating a cold draught on the face.

Another strong point is that the Blackridge has side stabilisers on the strap attachment, making it fully compatible with helmets. These small side extensions help the goggles to fit the curve of the helmet, ensuring a firm fit without causing the lens to lift or creating pressure points on the temples. When in motion, the goggles stay securely in place, even if you move your head quickly, demonstrating optimal helmet-goggle integration.

Finally, the design is spot on: with its sleek aesthetics and purple mirrored lens, the Bollé Blackridge has a sporty, modern style. The materials exude quality and robustness, from the adjustable elastic strap (with non-slip silicone band on the inside) to the lens finishes. It is no coincidence that the Bollé Blackridge features in our selection of the best ski goggles of 2026, alongside other leading models of the season. It stands out as a balanced choice for skiers looking for comfort, eye protection and performance without excessive complications.

A winning combination: compatibility, comfort and performance on the slopes

Taken separately, the Keystone MIPS helmet and Blackridge goggles each offer distinct advantages. However, it is the combination of the two as a cohesive set that maximises their benefits in the field. Indeed, choosing a helmet and goggles from the same brand often guarantees maximum compatibility: many brands offer helmets and goggles designed to be used together, ensuring a perfect fit between the two pieces of equipment. This is exactly what we see here.

The Bollé Keystone and Bollé Blackridge seem made for each other: no unpleasant surprises in terms of incompatibility of shape or size, and the interface is seamless. The shape of the helmet visor fits the goggle lens perfectly, eliminating the famous “gap” where cold air or snow could seep in. This results in increased thermal comfort (no frozen forehead) and reduced fogging, as warm air is properly evacuated without stagnating between the goggles and helmet.

What’s more, wearing these two Bollé items together is extremely comfortable. The helmet’s weight is evenly distributed across the head and the goggles are lightweight, meaning that even when worn together, they don’t cause excessive strain on the neck or face. We particularly appreciated being able to ski for long hours with the helmet and goggles without feeling any uncomfortable pressure points – an essential criterion for fully enjoying a day at the resort. Practicality is also a key feature: during our tests, it was easy to put the goggles back on or lift them up temporarily, as the elastic slid smoothly over the helmet shell without snagging thanks to the Keystone’s smooth coating. The rear helmet attachment keeps the goggle strap secure, preventing the goggles from falling off if you remove them while skiing. It’s clear that Bollé has designed these accessories to work in harmony, making life much easier for skiers on the slopes.

Finally, this helmet and goggle set stands out for its comprehensive approach to safety. The Keystone helmet, with its MIPS technology and robust design, effectively protects the head in the event of a fall, while the Blackridge goggles protect the skier’s vision in all situations. Wearing both simultaneously therefore offers complete protection: protected head, optimised vision, eyes shielded from UV rays and wind, all without discomfort. It’s an often underestimated aspect, but having confidence in your equipment allows you to ski with peace of mind and focus on your technique and the pleasure of skiing. With this duo, Bollé offers demanding skiers a combination of safety, visual performance and style, three essential criteria for successful winter sports equipment.
