After several irregular winters across Europe, the mountains are finally speaking with authority again. Heavy snowfall, sustained cold and deep early-season coverage are setting the stage for what may become the best start to winter in many years. In this promising scenario for the Pyrenees, Baqueira Beret is experiencing its most exceptional season opening since 2019-2020, when snowfalls of up to 90 cm allowed the resort to open almost its entire ski area at the end of November.

Now, several years later, history seems ready to repeat itself.

Intense snowfall, extreme cold and a powerful early-season opening

A succession of northern storms since Thursday 20 November, combined with a final week of the month packed with precipitation, has completely transformed the landscape of the Val d’Aran and the Valls d’Àneu. Temperatures at Cap de Baqueira have dropped to -15°C, creating perfect conditions for continuous natural snowfall and high-efficiency snowmaking.

Within just one week, the resort has received storms from the north, northwest and even from the south, building excellent depths with snow of varying qualities: light powder on the upper slopes and denser accumulations on the lower areas.

The first significant snowfall arrived on Wednesday 20 November and intensified on Friday, leaving 30 cm at 1,800 m and 40 cm at 2,500 m. Over the following weekend, and during Monday and Tuesday, intermittent snowfalls combined with the work of the grooming teams have further consolidated these depths. Forecasts continue to suggest more snow on the way, reinforcing the prospect of a truly idyllic start to the 2025-2026 season.

Baqueira Beret will open on Saturday 29 November 2025

If conditions allow, Baqueira Beret plans to open on Saturday 29 November with an impressively strong offering for such an early date:
40 ski runs, 54 km of slopes and access to the three main areas of the resort Baqueira, Beret and Bonaigua. To provide access to these initial slopes, the resort will operate 17 lifts, an exceptional figure for the end of November.

In the Baqueira sector, almost the entire lift network will be running, with 12 out of 13 lifts in operation. In Bonaigua, the main detachable chairlift, along with Teso Dera Mina and Solei, will ensure access to the first descents of the season. In Beret, the Dera Reina and Jesús Serra lifts will open, giving access to one of the resort’s most popular areas for families, beginners and powder enthusiasts.

Services ready to welcome the first skiers

The early-season atmosphere will be felt across all base areas, where several key services will open their doors in the days leading up to opening weekend. From 27 November, the Wine Bar by Viña Pomal and the Xocolateria Jolonch in the Fòrum Plaza will welcome their first visitors.

The iconic Hotel Montarto will open to winter guests on Friday 28. On the following day, 29 November, several of Baqueira’s most emblematic establishments will also open: the Moët Winter Lounge, Free Flow Bosque, Cinco Jotas Grill, and Baqueira Bar 1500.

In the Beret area, the Bar Audeth will be operational, and at the opposite end of the resort, the Bar Bonaigua will also open.

Meanwhile, at the base in the Ruda shopping area, the Häagen-Dazs café will open, and the children’s zones -BabyBaqueira 1500 and BabyBaqueira 1800- will be fully prepared for families. The seven Baqueira Store locations around the resort will offer rental, sales and equipment repair services, and the Customer Service Office will operate as usual, from 8:15 to 17:45.

For skiers who like to plan ahead, the resort reminds visitors that BaqueiraPASS recharging is already available -the easiest way to avoid queues and enjoy a smooth first day on the slopes.
