This Friday, 6 June 2025, the Les Deux Alpes resort will once again be buzzing with environmental solidarity for cleaner mountains. Les Deux Alpes is coming together for a cleaner mountain during its big Waste Collection Day, an event that has become a symbol and brings together a diverse group of participants united by a common cause: preserving the beauty and biodiversity of the mountains and moving forward together towards an increasingly cleaner Les Deux Alpes.

Under the evocative slogan ‘Respect what you love’, this day in Les Deux Alpes is an event that brings together residents, tourists, municipal officials, schoolchildren, associations and local partners, all motivated by the desire to protect this Alpine region that welcomes them or gives them their livelihood, and to contribute to a cleaner mountain.

A collective drive for nature conservation

From 8:45 a.m., participants are invited to gather in the square in Les 2 Alpes for a welcome breakfast, a moment of conviviality where generations and horizons come together. Then, spread out across different areas of the resort, they will get to work, equipped with gloves and rubbish bags, to fulfil an essential mission: to collect as much litter as possible from the footpaths, slopes and natural areas.

Far from being a mere symbolic gesture, these events and collective mobilisations enable several hundred kilos of rubbish to be collected each year. The aim is twofold: to make a concrete contribution to cleaning up our planet and to raise awareness of the often unconscious impact of our behaviour on the fragile mountain ecosystem.

A special area will be set up from 10:30 to 11:00 for local schoolchildren. Their mission: to observe the waste, identify it (i.e. determine its nature, origin and components) and take part in a discussion to think together about solutions to prevent this waste.

A barbecue to say thank you and exchange ideas

After all that effort, it’s time to relax! From 12:30 p.m., participants will be offered a snack and a barbecue. It’s a simple but heartfelt way of thanking all those who, through their commitment, are actively contributing to the ecological transformation of the resort.

What really makes this day special is the diversity of the people who get involved: tourists passing through, local council officials, seasonal workers, children… everyone does their bit. It’s a real demonstration of solidarity, which also motivates new participants to join the movement.

A collective dynamic supported by local stakeholders

This operation is made possible thanks to the support of SATA 2 Alpes, Mountain Riders and Rostaing, loyal partners of the event. They all share the same ambition: to make Deux Alpes a model of more responsible and environmentally friendly tourism.

SATA 2 Alpes, the company that operates the resort’s ski lifts, plays a key role in the economic and tourist life of the area. By partnering with this collection day, the company is reaffirming its commitment to integrating environmental challenges into its daily activities and actively contributing to the preservation of the Alpine domain.

Mountain Riders is an association that has been committed to promoting sustainable mountain living for over 20 years. It raises awareness, trains and supports local stakeholders in reducing their ecological impact. Present at numerous events in the Alps, it contributes its expertise in waste sorting, characterisation and environmental education.

Rostaing, a specialist in protective equipment, supplies gloves for the participants, among other items. By supporting this initiative, the company is demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility by putting its expertise at the service of specific environmental causes.

The 2024 edition brought together more than 180 participants. For 2025, the municipality hopes to exceed this figure, taking advantage of growing awareness of climate and environmental challenges.

Ready to roll up your sleeves?

Registration for this Les Deux Alpes event for a cleaner mountain is now open on the official Les Deux Alpes website. Participants are invited to come equipped with gloves, rubbish bags, water and suitable footwear. There are no prerequisites other than the desire to take action and share a useful moment in a pleasant atmosphere.

By joining forces for this clean-up day, mountain lovers are showing that another future is possible. A future where nature is respected. Where tourism is rethought. Where humans reconnect with their environment.
