At the end of the 2024-2025 winter season, the Aramón Group posted highly positive results, highlighting an upward trajectory driven by the performance of its resorts, the modernisation of its infrastructure and a strong commitment to the region. With 1,056,000 skier days recorded across all its resorts – Cerler, Formigal–Panticosa, Javalambre and Valdelinares – the group has consolidated its position as a key player in mountain tourism in Spain.

An early season supported by advanced snowmaking technology

The season lasted 129 days, starting before the Christmas holidays, an early start made possible by an ambitious snowmaking policy. This early start helped to boost tourist numbers during the key winter holiday period. The snow cover reached a depth of up to 185 cm, ensuring comfortable and safe skiing throughout the season.

Snow production reached an impressive volume of nearly 3 million cubic metres, the result of a significant investment in new snowmaking facilities. This strategic project, part of the Plan Pirineos and supported by the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE), aims to ensure the long-term future of skiing in the context of climate change. It is accompanied by innovative initiatives, such as the deployment of the Snow Factory in Formigal-Panticosa, a cutting-edge technology applied in the Sextas beginners’ area, which has enabled new skiers to enjoy optimal conditions from their very first descent.

A sustainable approach to managing the Aramon group’s resorts

This season, the modernisation of snowmaking equipment has reduced energy consumption by 31%, while also cutting CO₂ emissions by the same amount. All of the electricity consumed by the resorts comes from 100% renewable sources.

Other measures demonstrate a constant concern for the environment: the introduction of biofuels, the development of solar self-consumption solutions, reforestation programmes, plastic reduction, oil recycling and technical rubber treatment. These initiatives are part of a circular economy model aimed at preserving natural landscapes and minimising the ecological footprint of mountain tourism.

The integration of the IoT smart measurement and monitoring system has been strengthened, with a 30% increase in the number of sensors this season. These sensors enable precise control of climatic and operational variables, making the resorts smarter, more efficient and better prepared to adapt to weather changes and visitor flows.

Economic and social results with a strong regional impact

The Aramon group’s resorts are real economic drivers for their respective valleys. The Aramón Group estimates the economic impact of the season at more than €350 million, a figure that illustrates the importance of winter tourism in local economies.

This activity accounts for 7% of Aragon’s GDP and 10% of that of the province of Huesca.

It generates more than 13,000 direct and indirect jobs, helping to keep people in mountain areas and creating opportunities for private initiative in the hotel, restaurant, transport and service sectors.

The Aramón Group’s ability to diversify its offering is one of the secrets of its success. In addition to skiing, the resorts have hosted nearly 300 sporting and musical events, enhancing their appeal to a wide range of audiences. Highlights of the season include the I FIS, the DPD-Inclusive Spanish Championship, the Terrain Park F3st and the Miniyetis Trophy in Formigal-Panticosa. In Cerler, the Pitarroy Trophy brought together more than 300 young skiers, while the resort was one of the major centres of the Freeride World Tour Qualifier, making it a mecca for freeriding in Spain.

The musical offering has expanded spectacularly with the Marchica Experience, a concept that has made it possible to offer a high-quality musical programme spread over 10 stages in the four resorts. Headliners include Wade, Deborah de Luca, Chelina Manuhutu, Alvama Ice, and collaborations with Nevalia. Cerler, through its iconic après-ski venue Remáscaro, has welcomed renowned artists such as Michenlo, Carlos Jean and Andrea Vandall, creating a unique synergy between snow sports and culture.

Gastronomy is also a major attraction. Several establishments have stood out: the Asador Montañés in Sarrios, the Michelin-starred menu at Las Mugas in partnership with La Era de los Nogales, and the gourmet hamburger ‘Colladeta’, created with Casa Arcas.

A strong social commitment and a forward-looking strategy

In a spirit of solidarity, Aramón has renewed its Solidarity Snow Campaign, which offers a day of skiing to children affected by Storm Dana. This initiative, implemented in the resorts of Teruel, has enabled many young people to discover winter sports, while conveying values of hope, resilience and fraternity. These humanitarian initiatives illustrate the role of resorts as full-fledged social actors, beyond their simple tourist vocation.

The high attendance of school groups throughout the season also confirms this educational dimension. Here, skiing becomes a vehicle for learning, self-improvement and social bonding.

The season ended on a high note thanks to an intensive promotional plan aimed at opening up the resorts to new audiences. Specific offers were made to large families, beginners and individual visitors, ensuring sustained visitor numbers until the last week of April.

But the Aramón Group is not limiting its strategy to the winter period. It is actively working to de-seasonalise its destinations through its own travel agency, which facilitates the marketing of summer activities in the Pyrenean and Teruel valleys. This broader approach aims to position Aragon as a year-round tourist destination, capable of offering a wide range of experiences linked to nature, culture and well-being.

With Formigal celebrating its 60th anniversary this year and receiving the Medal of Merit for Tourism, the Aramón Group is proving that it is possible to combine regional roots, technological innovation, a sustainable vision and a premium customer experience. In preparation for the summer season, and already looking ahead to next winter, the Aramón Group reaffirms its ambition: to offer much more than just skiing, making every stay an authentic and inspiring immersion in the Spanish mountains.
