We visit at all parts of the season and are never disappointed so it makes our decision to return really easy as other resorts can’t compete and never have as reliable conditions », explains Daniel H., a long-standing english customer at Alpe d’Huez.

Explore the Fun zones: engaging pistes for all ages
Alpe d’Huez boasts a variety of fun zones designed to enhance the skiing experience for both children and adults. « When looking for our first family ski trip we wanted somewhere that suited all the family’s ski needs, from beginner to advanced skier. From its fun, exciting slopes like Marcel’s Farm and Chez Roger to the famous, challenging Sarenne it meant everyone was guaranteed to enjoy themselves. Over the years as everyone has become better skiers, it has been a joy to take on all the slopes together as a family and create lifelong memories. However, the kids still love flying down Marcel’s Farm! But it’s not only the skiing that appealed to us. Alpe d’Huez is a winter (and summer!) playground that offers so much off the slopes too. From the Palais du Sport (recently renames « Agoralp ») to the famous Apres Ski, we’re always kept entertained!! », explains Daniel H.

Marcel’s Farm
Perched at the top of the Signal (2,114m), Marcel’s Farm is where the Alpine pastures meet the pistes. Here, you’ll encounter a medley of colourful modules: whoops, tunnels, slaloms, moguls, and playful figurines. It’s a place where you can channel your inner farmer, herding your family through a barnyard of snowy fun. Don’t forget to capture the memories at the photo spots—after all, nothing says ‘holiday’ like a selfie with a snow-covered cow!
Chez Roger
For those seeking a piste with personality, Chez Roger offers a descent filled with whoops, tunnels, and slaloms. Perfect for families looking to add a sprinkle of excitement to their day, this run ensures that laughter echoes down the mountain as you navigate its playful twists and turns.
Jacques le Bûcheron
Step into the boots of Jacques the Lumberjack on this themed run that immerses you in his woodsy world. This slope is located in the Auris ski area, which is part of the Alpe d’Huez domain. It offers a quieter, less crowded experience and is easily accessible via ski lifts. With interactive elements and storytelling woven into the piste, each turn becomes a chapter in an adventure tale. It’s like reading a bedtime story—if bedtime stories involved swishing down a mountain and dodging imaginary trees.

Alpe d’Huez: Tobogganing delights for the whole family
Alpe d’Huez boasts a variety of luge areas, each offering a unique experience for all ages.
Beneath the Pic Blanc cable car, Jeux Sledge Run features a permanent track with banked turns and gentle bumps, perfect for families. Luges with brakes and helmets are required for a safe descent.
In the charming village of Villard-Reculas, a well-maintained luge area provides a serene setting for tobogganing, ideal for those who enjoy a mix of fun and alpine tranquillity.
For a high-altitude thrill, Luge d’Oz 3300 in Oz-en-Oisans combines exhilarating descents with breathtaking mountain views, making it a must-visit spot.
Meanwhile, Auris-en-Oisans offers a family-friendly luge area with gentle slopes and a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring both excitement and safety for all.

This sledge on rail twists and turns through the alpine landscape, providing thrills for both children and adults. It’s an ideal activity for families seeking a unique adventure off the traditional ski slopes.
Boardercross courses: dynamic tracks for competitive Fun
Alpe d’Huez features three boardercross courses, each offering dynamic tracks filled with banked turns, jumps, and rollers:
Boarder Family des Vallons
Think of this as the “starter kit” of boardercross courses. With gentle banked turns, small rollers, and jumps that won’t leave your heart in your mouth, it’s perfect for families and beginners. You’ll leave the track smiling, not sweating, making it ideal for those who prefer their thrills with a side of chill. Plus, it’s a great way to introduce the kids to the joy of boardercross without making them question your parenting choices.
Boarder Family de l’Alpette
The sibling to the Vallons course, this family-friendly track takes the fun factor up a notch. Picture a snow-filled playground where you can race your loved ones down slopes designed for laughs and lighthearted competition. Who knew the phrase “beaten by an eight-year-old” could sound so endearing?
Boarder Expert des Vallons
Now, this is where things get serious. The Boarder Expert course is for those who see a steep banked turn as a challenge, not a suggestion to slow down. It’s fast, it’s thrilling, and it’s guaranteed to test your skills – and possibly your nerve. If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a Winter X Games competitor (minus the TV cameras), this is your moment to shine. Just remember, style points are optional, but sticking the landing is always a bonus.

Unique experiences
Alpe d’Huez offers a variety of unique experiences that can enrich the stay of British skiers. Here are some notable activities:
Sarenne Sunset
Experience an unforgettable evening by taking the last cable car to Pic Blanc at 3,330 meters. Enjoy a relaxing moment at the GUC refuge with warm drinks and anecdotes, marvel at the magnificent sunset, and then ski down the legendary Sarenne slope under the stars.
First Tracks on Sarenne
On select mornings, be among the first to ski the freshly groomed Sarenne piste at dawn. Share a special moment with mountain professionals who will introduce you to their work and environment. After a moment of contemplation at 3,330 meters, descend the piste at your own pace or accompany a ski patroller on their morning routine.

Dôme des Rousses at Sunset
The “Sunset at 2800” experience offers participants the opportunity to witness a breathtaking sunset from the Dôme des Rousses, situated at an altitude of 2,800 metres. This activity is conveniently accessible to guests staying in the resorts of Oz 3300 and Vaujany. We recommend contacting the resort directly for more information as there can be changes during the season.
Night Skiing
Alpe d’Huez offers night skiing opportunities on select evenings during holidays, allowing skiers to enjoy the slopes under the stars. This unique experience provides a different perspective of the mountain and is suitable for skiers looking to extend their time on the snow.

« As a family we have always love the night time ski shows (held on Signal and Rif Nel) put on by the resort and the ESF ski school. We also love the climbing and other activities available in the Sports center », recommends Daniel H. « We have so many memories it is hard to choose but on the slopes it would have to be our first family ski visit. The children were total beginners (not being able to ski at all) and by the end of the week skiing with their fantastic instructor, we were all able to ski down Red and Blue runs together. Great fun! Whilst in the resort, we try to involve ourselves in Alpe d’Huez life going ice skating and exploring the fantastic shops, but if you ask the kids, they will always talk of how much they love the luge! »
Alpe Huez : comprehensive family activities beyond the slopes
Alpe d’Huez is a winter wonderland packed with family-friendly activities that ensure every day is as memorable as the last. Imagine gliding gracefully—or perhaps a bit wobbly—on the resort’s outdoor ice rink, surrounded by the crisp alpine air, where every slip turns into laughter. If a warm retreat is more your style, the heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools invite you to relax and splash about, no matter the weather.
For something a bit more adventurous, embark on a dog sledding journey, letting a team of energetic huskies whisk you through pristine snowy trails—a magical experience that leaves both children and adults grinning ear to ear. Meanwhile, tubing down specially designed tracks offers a uniquely thrilling way to enjoy the slopes, with plenty of giggles guaranteed.
When the sun sets, the entertainment doesn’t stop: a cosy cinema and a lineup of cultural events provide the perfect way to unwind after a day of activity. For a slower-paced exploration, stroll through charming boutiques or gather the family around a table at one of the resort’s many restaurants, where mountain food like fondue and raclette provide the perfect ending to a delightful day. In Alpe d’Huez, the opportunities for creating cherished family memories are as endless as the views of the surrounding peaks.

« The whole resort aims for everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves. The accommodation is always warm and hospitable, making the whole family feel welcome. When on the slopes, the infrastructure and lifts are easy to navigate and efficient meaning you have very small queues (lines) and get everywhere super quick. There is so much choice in regards food, from delicious lunchtime ski restaurants such as La Plage des Neiges, mouthwatering burgers at Le Trappeur to special treats such as Le Crémaillère. You’ll always be in for a treat », shares Daniel H.
