In the middle of winter and with heavy snowfall, I LOVE SKI proposes to the two main and powerful Artificial Intelligence models, ChatGPT and DeepSeek, to make a ranking of the TOP10 best ski resorts in Europe.

The announcement of the creation of DeepSeek, the Chinese artificial intelligence, marked a turning point in the global technological landscape. Considered a fierce rival to the American giants, this AI stands out for its open source, its more efficient processing capacity and highly curated knowledge. Its emergence in the market has shaken the foundations of the industry, causing stock market movements that demonstrate its impact.

As an experiment, and to analyze how both models reason in the field of skiing, we asked both ChatGPT and DeepSeekto list, according to their own criteria and algorithms, the best ski resorts in Europe. An interesting comparison between two artificial visions of winter sports.

Given that the choice of the best ski resorts is subject to multiple factors (kilometers of slopes, snow quality, services, history and reputation, among others), and that any selection could generate debate among the most passionate skiers, the answers obtained by both artificial intelligences offer a fascinating starting point for analysis.

Subjected to this test, the American AI ChatGPT selected its list of the best ski resorts in Europe as follows:

  1. Val d’Isère, France
  2. Zermatt, Switzerland
  3. St. Anton, Austria
  4. Courchevel, France
  5. Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
  6. Kitzbühel, Austria
  7. Chamonix, France
  8. Verbier, Switzerland
  9. Sölden, Austria
  10. Lech-Zürs, Austria

On the other hand, the Chinese artificial intelligence DeepSeek has also produced its own ranking based on its data analysis and processing parameters. Below is DeepSeek’s selection:

  1. Val Thorens, France
  2. St. Anton, Austria
  3. Courchevel, France
  4. Zermatt, Switzerland
  5. Verbier, Switzerland
  6. Kitzbühel, Austria
  7. Tignes, France
  8. Chamonix, France
  9. Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy
  10. Ischgl, Austria

Coincidences between ChatGPT and DeepSeek in the ranking of the best ski resorts in Europe

Both artificial intelligences have coincided in selecting the following ski resorts as the best in Europe:

  • St. Anton, Austria – Both AIs highlight its challenging terrain, the quality of its snow and its lively après-ski life, especially at the legendary MooserWirt. Its inclusion is logical, as St. Anton is part of the Arlberg region, the largest in Austria, and is a benchmark for alpine skiing.
  • Courchevel, France – Considered one of the most exclusive resorts in the world, ChatGPT and DeepSeek highlight its location in the Three Valleys, its luxurious hotels and restaurants, as well as the quality of its slopes. Courchevel is synonymous with high-level skiing and luxury, which is why both AIs include it on their list.
  • Zermatt, Switzerland – Its iconic landscape with the Matterhorn, one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, its extensive ski area of 360 km and its exclusivity make it an indisputable choice. Both ChatGPT and DeepSeek highlight its car-free atmosphere, top-notch cuisine and year-round skiing.
  • Verbier, Switzerland – Its fame among advanced skiers and freeriders makes it an essential resort on any list. Both AIs highlight its challenging terrain, vibrant nightlife and breathtaking views of Mont Blanc. Verbier is a benchmark for skiers looking for adrenaline and a sophisticated atmosphere.
  • Chamonix, France – Renowned for extreme skiing and its historic link to mountaineering, Chamonix and its valley appear on both lists. Its off-piste terrain, the descent of the Vallée Blanche and its location at the foot of Mont Blanc make it a mecca for experienced skiers.
  • Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy – Its beauty in the Dolomites, its Olympic tradition and its exclusive atmosphere make Cortina a recurring choice. Both AIs highlight its combination of quality skiing, spectacular scenery and Italian elegance, consolidating it as one of the best ski resorts in Italy and Europe.

Analysis of the overlap between ChatGPT and DeepSeek

The selection of these resorts by both AIs suggests that there are objective criteria that consistently position them among the best:

  • Extent of the skiable domain, prioritizing resorts with a large number of kilometers of slopes.
  • International reputation, considering those resorts with global recognition and high-level sporting events.
  • Snow quality and altitude, favoring resorts with a good snow record and access to glaciers or high altitudes.
  • Infrastructure and services, rewarding those with good ski lifts, luxury accommodation and outstanding après-ski options.

Although each AI produced variations in its list, these coincidences reflect a solid basis on which factors determine the best ski resorts in Europe. However, although both AIs have made selections based on objective criteria, we miss the inclusion of Baqueira Beret, a resort that stands out for the quality of its snow, its extensive ski area and its relevance in the whole of the Pyrenees, being a favorite with skiers of all levels.

But surely you miss other resorts in the IA rankings. What do you think of the selections made by ChatGPT and DeepSeek?
