At I Love Ski, we share a passion for the mountains and board sports, while promoting values such as sustainable development, environmental protection and the democratisation of skiing.
With this in mind, we tested two flagship models from the winter 2024 collection from PROTEST, one of the most famous ski clothing brands. PROTEST, a Dutch brand renowned for its functional and trendy ski and snowboard clothing, is actively committed to the environment through its PROTEST PVRE Green series, which offers products that are designed as sustainably and ethically as possible.
We had the opportunity to test two flagship jackets from the PROTEST PVRE Green winter 2024 collection: the PRTBAKIE jacket for men and the PRTMOOSE jacket for women. These two jackets promise top-level technical performance while complying with demanding ecological standards. We wanted to check whether they really do combine technical features, comfort and respect for nature, in line with Protest’s commitments and the values we hold dear. Here’s our feedback.
Men’s PROTEST PVRE Green series jacket: a technical jacket that meets all expectations
This model was tested by a man, an experienced skier, on different terrain and in various weather conditions.
The PROTEST PVRE Green series PRTBAKIE ski and snowboard jacket stands out for its advanced technical features. It offers 20,000 mm of waterproofing and 20,000 g/m²/24h of breathability, guaranteeing optimum protection against the elements while ensuring efficient evacuation of internal moisture. Fully taped seams and waterproof zips add to this protection.
In addition, ventilation zips under the arms provide customised ventilation during intense activity. Its fixed hood and integrated snow skirt provide an extra barrier against the snow. Practical details like ski mask and ski pass pockets make it easy to keep organised on the slopes.

Test highlights:
- Exceptional waterproofing and breathability: With its exceptional waterproofing and breathability of 20,000 g/m²/24h, the PRTBAKIE shone during a day’s skiing in heavy snow and wind. No water infiltration, even after several hours.
- Efficient ventilation zips: Zips under the arms for optimum body heat management, especially on ski lifts or during a sunny break.
- Ergonomic hood: Designed to be compatible with a helmet, the hood fits perfectly, offering optimum comfort without restricting side vision.
- Modern design: The modern colour block style, complemented by contrasting zips, adds a dynamic touch that’s equally at home on the slopes or in town.

However, we did note that the exterior pockets, while deep, could be improved with interior compartments to better organise small items.
Women’s PROTEST PVRE Green Series Jacket: the perfect blend of style and function
This model was tested by a female winter sports enthusiast in demanding winter conditions.
The PROTEST PVRE Green PRTMOOSE 3L ski and snowboard jacket combines cutting-edge technology with sleek style. Made from three-layer softshell, it also boasts 20,000 mm of waterproofing and 20,000 g/m²/24h of breathability, providing effective protection against external moisture while allowing perspiration to be managed.
Fully taped seams and waterproof zips make it even more waterproof. The fixed, helmet-compatible hood and integrated snow skirt keep snow out. Ventilation zips under the arms provide extra air for sustained exertion.
Inner cuffs with thumbhole and velcro-adjustable outer cuffs add to the jacket’s comfort and functionality. The monochrome green/blue design with contrasting pink zips adds a modern, sober touch.

Our test impressions:
- Lightness and insulation: Despite its 3-layer softshell design, the jacket remains both light and well insulated. Tested in temperatures approaching -10°C, it remained pleasantly warm.
- Waterproof seams and zips: Even after a fall in soft snow, we didn’t notice any water seepage.
- Comfortable cuffs: The inner cuffs with thumbhole were much appreciated for preventing snow infiltration while ensuring optimum freedom of movement.
- Sleek, elegant design: With its monochrome evergreen colour and minimalist lines, this jacket offers a sober, timeless look.

However, for extreme conditions (-15°C and above), a thermal mid-layer may be necessary for optimum comfort. We combined the beanie with the pink colour of the zips.
Protest’s commitment to the environment: a real plus
Performance aside, what really stood out for us was the brand’s ecological commitment. These two jackets are part of the PVRE Green series, which uses recycled materials and bans PFCs, substances that are harmful to the environment. PROTEST shows that it is possible to combine technical features with respect for nature.
Our final verdict
After several hours of testing on different terrains and in different weather conditions, we can confirm that the PROTEST PRTBAKIE and PRTMOOSE jackets live up to their promises. Whether you’re an off-piste enthusiast or an occasional skier, these models offer a balanced combination of protection, style and environmental responsibility. We have no hesitation in recommending them for tackling the winter season with style and efficiency.
