On 27 January 2025, the Val Thorens/Orelle ski area will inaugurate ‘Caron 3200’, an innovative complex accessible to all, located at an altitude of 3,200 metres, at the summit of the legendary Cime Caron. Designed and built by SETAM (Société d’Exploitation des remontées mécaniques de Val Thorens, et d’Orelle via its subsidiary STOR), this new 800 m² area is one of Europe’s top dining and leisure venues. Discover this mythical future spot in the 3 Vallées ski area, with something for everyone.
‘Caron 3200’, opening on 27 January
Accessible to all thanks to the ski lifts, ‘Caron 3200’ offers a complete immersive experience. On the first floor, an all-glass panoramic room offers a breathtaking view of the thousand surrounding peaks. Visitors can enjoy tasty local cuisine, served in jars carefully prepared at the foot of the mountains.
Downstairs, an intimate wine bar offers a selection of over 150 vintages from French and international wine regions, including prestigious names such as Domaine Romanée Conti, Lafite Rothschild and Yquem. At the top, the panoramic rooftop offers a Bar & Snacking area with a 360° view of emblematic peaks such as Mont-Blanc, the Aiguilles d’Arves and the Ruitor massif.
In addition to these spaces, ‘Caron 3200’ has an exclusive souvenir shop as well as an exhibition and seminar room, making it a truly multifunctional space. This initiative is part of Val Thorens’ commitment to enriching the experience of skiers and visitors by offering modern and diversified infrastructures. In this way, the resort, renowned for its commitment to innovation, continues to strengthen its appeal within the 3 Valleys ski area.
Energy and environmental challenges
Building the Caron 3200 at such an altitude presents unique challenges, particularly in terms of energy supply and respect for the environment. To minimise its ecological impact, the building was designed in collaboration with architects and landscape architects advised by the State, to blend harmoniously into the Cime Caron landscape.
Innovative technical solutions have been put in place to reduce the impact on the climate, energy and biodiversity, such as the use of a mix of renewable energies (thermo-solar, solar panels, recovery of waste heat from the Orelle-Caron cable car) and optimised management of water resources.
The official opening of Caron 3200 is scheduled for Monday 27 January 2025 at 10am.
This new complex promises to become a must for mountain lovers, offering a unique experience combining gastronomy, wine and exceptional panoramas.
