The resort of Courchevel and the Galeries Bartoux are preparing to host a new edition of the unmissable L’Art au Sommet event, an initiative which, since 2009, has transformed the snowy slopes into a veritable open-air art gallery. Monumental works by contemporary artists, transported by helicopter to the summit, are integrated into the spectacular natural surroundings of Courchevel and delight skiers and visitors every year.

A successful fusion of art and sport

The innovative idea behind L’Art au Sommet is based on a simple but bold concept: to offer a cultural getaway in the heart of the Alps, combining contemporary art with the skiing experience. Since its inception, the event has attracted a diverse audience, from art lovers to ski enthusiasts, with works by great masters such as Salvador Dalí and Jean-Michel Folon, as well as creations by contemporary talents such as Bruno Catalano, Lorenzo Quinn and Jiménez Deredia.

For the 2024-2025 edition, the resort is awarding a place of honour to emerging artist Léo Caillard, whose distinctive artistic approach is already garnering rave reviews.

Léo Caillard: a dialogue between eras

Léo Caillard, a neo-antique sculptor, is known for his ability to play with temporal contrasts and the codes of contemporary society. Through his resin works, the artist creates a bridge between the past and the present, drawing inspiration from classical aesthetics while incorporating humorous and anachronistic elements.

A series inspired by climate change

For Courchevel, Léo Caillard presents a new series of works entitled “Liquid”, specially conceived for this edition. These sculptures, installed at several strategic points in the resort, reinterpret the traditional perception of marble and resin as fixed materials. The fluid forms of the works evoke movement and transformation, symbolising the melting of glaciers and the vulnerability of alpine peaks to climate change. Through this series, the artist encourages us to reflect deeply on the importance of preserving our environment.
