‘Ski for all’: a unique initiative to make the mountains accessible and inclusive

Valle d’Aosta is breaking new ground with its ‘Ski for All’ programme, designed to make the joys of the mountains accessible to people with disabilities. This ambitious project relies on the collaboration of many players in the region – from ski lifts and ski schools to tourist offices and mountain guides – to ensure a smooth, safe and uncompromising skiing experience for all visitors.

To make this commitment a reality, five pilot resorts have been designated as flagship locations for this accessibility: Courmayeur, Breuil-Cervinia, Gressoney-Saint-Jean, Pila and Saint-Barthélemy. Each of these resorts has invested in specific infrastructure and services to welcome people with disabilities. The facilities include access ramps, adapted equipment for seated or guided skiing, and staff trained in the special needs of these visitors, guaranteeing supervised skiing that respects everyone’s abilities.

In addition to the slopes, ‘Ski pour tous ’ also provides support throughout the stay: visitors have access to partner accommodation and restaurants, rigorously selected for their accessibility and special facilities. Training and courses are also offered to local instructors and guides, enabling them to adapt to the requirements and particularities of each skier.

Thanks to these coordinated efforts, the Valle d’Aosta is positioning itself as a pilot region for accessibility in the mountains, offering everyone, without exception, the chance to discover or rediscover the unique sensations of skiing.

The Magic Skipass: an accessible pass to discover the region’s smaller resorts
