Juan Ramón Moreno has decided to step down as general manager of Grandvalira Resorts after four years at the helm of the company. He joined the management of Grandvalira in July 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, after working for the multinational Neinver in the marketing area. During his tenure, Moreno successfully implemented a strategic plan designed to strengthen the position of the Andorran resort conglomerate after the impact of COVID-19.
One of his greatest achievements was the consolidation of Grandvalira as the largest ski area in the Pyrenees and one of the most important in Europe. Under his leadership, the resort not only recovered from the impact of the pandemic, but also made significant investments to improve infrastructures and promote sustainability. More than €34 million was invested in the 2023-2024 season, and more than €140 million is projected in the coming years, with sustainable energy generation now covering 25% of the resort’s needs.
Despite a slight decrease in ski days sold last season, Moreno left a solid foundation for Grandvalira’s future growth, with a focus on maintaining its market leadership and continuing to expand its services. The shareholders have begun the process of searching for a successor to continue the expansion and improvement plan already underway.
Moreno’s work was key to strengthening the ski area in times of uncertainty and leaving a significant mark on Grandvalira’s trajectory.
