In Val Cenis, a unique experience awaits you with the possibility of pedal-boating and kayaking at an altitude of almost 2,000 metres. From the emerald waters of Lac du Mont-Cenis, you can admire exceptional panoramas of the surrounding peaks and discover a flora rich in 700 species.

Created in 1968 to generate hydroelectricity, Lac du Mont-Cenis is one of the largest artificial lakes in France. Recreational boating is permitted on the lake, and since 2022 you can hire a pedalo or kayak during the summer months. The base’s fleet includes 6 pedalos and 10 kayaks, available six days a week from July to August.

Juliette Berneron, who is behind the reopening of the water sports centre in 2022, has noticed a growing demand. “Visitors are looking for an original way to discover the Mont Cenis plateau. The potential of this activity is immense”, she explains. Juliette is a ski instructor in winter and works for the Val Cenis SEM in summer, which actively supports this initiative in collaboration with the municipality.
