Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, icons of world tennis, have met again, but this time off the court. The two athletes took part in an advertising campaign for the luxury brand Louis Vuitton, photographed by the renowned Annie Leibovitz. The shoot took place in one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, the breathtaking Dolomites, where Federer and Nadal posed at an altitude of 3,000 metres. This project, part of the brand’s “Core Values” series, highlights the perseverance and pioneering spirit of these champions.

At the event, Federer and Nadal not only posed for photos at the top of Lagazuoi in the beautiful setting of the Belluno Dolomites, but also engaged in an intimate and candid conversation.

Federer and Nadal: united in the heights of the Dolomites for Louis Vuitton

The Belluno Dolomites National Park, located in the Veneto region of Italy, is a natural gem that extends over an area of approximately 32,000 hectares. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park offers a unique combination of biodiversity, geological history and scenic beauty.

In this exceptional natural setting, the two historic tennis players reminisced about their first matches, starting with the match in Miami in 2004. Nadal humorously recalled Federer’s early arrogance, while Federer praised Nadal’s tenacity and style of play from his early days.

Both reflected on their legacy in the tennis world. Federer, with 20 Grand Slam titles and numerous records, and Nadal, with 22 Grand Slam titles and known for his dominance at Roland Garros, emphasised that:

“THEY WISH TO BE REMEMBERED NOT ONLY FOR THEIR SPORTING ACHIEVEMENTS, BUT ALSO FOR THEIR POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON FUTURE GENERATIONS AND THEIR HUMAN QUALITIES.”

Roger Federer, considered one of the world’s most elegant and talented tennis players, has 20 Grand Slam titles to his name, 103 ATP singles titles and a total of 310 weeks as world number one. Rafa Nadal, known as the “King of Clay”, has won 22 Grand Slam titles, including 14 at Roland Garros, and has been world number one for 209 weeks.

The campaign not only celebrates their stellar careers, but also their friendship and mutual respect for each other, making this collaboration a tribute to their legacies both on and off the court.
