But that’s not all! As well as enjoying exceptional skiing conditions, visitors to Val Thorens will also have the chance to take part in a host of lively activities and events. For the last weekend of its opening season, Europe’s highest ski resort is warmly inviting all winter sports fans to bring the season to a close in style with a festive and sporting event: La Grande Dernière. This traditional event promises unforgettable moments, punctuated by free entertainment, sporting challenges and friendly encounters.

The Val Thorens Big Der : a variety of activities for all ages

The event will feature a host of exciting activities to entertain participants of all ages. On the programme: a refreshing waterslide, a giant barbecue to tantalise the taste buds, a DJ to set the mood, inflatable games for fun, a towed buoy for thrill-seekers, and even a photocall to capture the day’s highlights.

The Big Der’ : a thrilling race not to be missed

On Saturday 4 May, thrill-seekers are invited to take part in an iconic event: “La Big Der'”. This electrifying derby race will take place from the summit of Péclet to the finish at the foot of the Yannick Richard stadium, whether on skis or snowboard. Starting in groups of four skiers, the Grande Dernière course is 3km long and has a vertical drop of 675 metres, making for a thrilling competition that combines adrenalin and a competitive spirit.

This unforgettable experience is open to a limited number of participants, so don’t miss the chance to join in the unique adventure of the Grande Dernière de Val Thorens! Please note that participation in the race is reserved for people aged 18 and over, and ski helmets must be worn. Groups of four will be formed according to race number order, adding an extra element of suspense to this exciting competition.
