Looking for new activities? The resort of Peyragudes is undoubtedly one of the most fashionable Pyrenean winter sports resorts. Located in the heart of the Pyrenees mountain range, just two hours from Toulouse and well connected by the A64 motorway, the resort has taken on a dual role as both a “piste-side resort” and now a “village resort” thanks to the SkyVall gondola which connects the village of Loudenvielle to the slopes.

Put your skis on from your accommodation

The resort of Peyragudes has become a true snow destination where the pleasures are experienced in the plural and social distancing is natural. Up there, the slopes are sunny all day long thanks to the East/West exposure, which makes family skiing very accessible and relaxed. Experts will find the terrain a fabulous playground, while beginners will learn to make their first turns.

In the Peyragudes resort there are activities for all ages

The Funslope playground under the Sérias chairlift offers a clever mix of snowpark and boardercross. With a level equivalent to that of a blue run, you can try out the high turns, tunnels, bumps, jumps… all in a fun atmosphere!

The more contemplative will enjoy Altibar 007, the resort’s most panoramic and sunny terrace. Altibar 007 is located at the intersection of the Agudes/Peyresourde slopes in the Cimes resort. With its deckchairs and its open-air bar with DJ, the Altibar 007 adapts to the weather with an ephemeral bar open mainly at weekends and every day during school holidays. Each event is different, as the Altibar 007 offers beer, champagne, tea, chocolate, etc. depending on the day and the time of the season. It’s a real break from the slopes with sun loungers waiting for you to enjoy a breathtaking panorama.

Immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of Pyrenean villages

At the start of winter, the desire to ski and hit the slopes is undeniable. Getting up early and making one descent after another to satisfy your desire to ski is only natural.

But now that the season is well underway, the days are longer and the anxiety to put on your skis has disappeared, this is the time to enjoy the evenings and take advantage of the atmosphere of the Pyrenean villages which, during the previous weeks, have only been seen furtively from the slopes.

Traditional landscape of the villages of the Louron valley in winter.

The Louron Valley is home to natural, architectural and, of course, gastronomic wonders. And now they are just a stone’s throw from the slopes thanks to the SkyVall, the cable car linking the resort of Peyragudes to Loudenvielle.

The word “immersion” takes on its full meaning here, because from the slopes you can see the sparkling lake of Génos-Loudenvielle, as well as the largest thermal spa centre in the mountains, Balnéa.

By the way, the SkyVall is a structure for the whole valley and brings one of the most typical villages of the south-west, Loudenvielle, with its lake, its naturally warm water in Balnéa, its shops, its Arixo cinema, its Valgora sports and cultural complex and its numerous accommodations, within easy reach of the cable car.

The Louron valley is a bright and clear valley with an enchanting landscape. In fact, the villages scattered throughout the valley are full of Romanesque chapels and houses with traditional architecture.

The contrast between “up and down” is striking, but oddly enough it makes sense. Already invested in a multi-activity approach and reasoned development, the activities in Peyragudes and the valleys are numerous: tobogganing, ski touring, dog sledding, snowshoeing, fat biking… Day or night, summer or winter, there is always something to do and discover in the Louron Valley, classified as a Grand Site Occitanie “Aure-Louron Pyrenees” since 2018.

In 2016, Peyragudes became the fourth resort in the Pyrenees to receive the “Famille Plus” label. This label is awarded for a period of three years to resorts that have a real policy of welcoming families and children. For visitors, it is the guarantee of a personalised welcome, entertainment and activities adapted to all ages, affordable prices and an awareness of children’s expectations on the part of the professionals.

Peyragudes is also home to two villages at the foot of the slopes (Les Agudes and Peyresourde) and has a credo: a Zen attitude.
