This winter, thanks to its new 20-seater snow groomer cabin, the Pyrenean resort of Gavarnie-Gèdre offers new experiences in its ski area.

For several years, the Gavarnie-Gèdre resort has been promoting the idea that “ski lovers have their own secret garden”. It is true that it has all the ingredients of a great resort and knows how to delight all types of skiers, from beginners to lovers of steep slopes. Now it’s going after those who want to enjoy the mountains in a different way with a number of new products.

A snow groomer ride at Gavarnie Gèdre and a gastronomic break at sunset

The adventure begins when the ski slopes close. The resort invites you to embark on a one-and-a-half hours ride in an unusual setting. You will ride a snow groomer to the top of the Gavarnie Gèdre ski area, where you can enjoy the colours of the setting sun on the surrounding mountains.

This exceptional panorama makes the inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List all the more significant.

A gastronomic break (charcuterie plate, wine…) is offered with a view of the Brèche de Roland. There is a photo booth installed there to immortalise this moment. Afterwards, the return journey will take a different route.

Cross-country skiing and ice bar at an altitude of over 2000 m.

The St André plateau, at an altitude of 2,075 m in the heart of the domain, is an ideal place for contemplative discovery. With a view to developing a Nordic area in a domain that had hitherto been exclusively devoted to alpine skiing, this site was an obvious choice.

The area is accessible by a 20-seater snow groomer shuttle service, with several rotations per day on weekends and school holidays from 29 January 2022.

Non-skiers will not be left out, as the snow groomer will also take pedestrians to the Saint André area. During the 4 weeks of the February holidays, they will be offered a temporary restaurant at altitude: the ice bar. In this specially set up place in the snow, you will be able to taste mulled wine and cold drinks (including local beer specially edited for the 50th anniversary of the resort), sandwiches and local charcuterie dishes (labelled Hapy Saveurs).
The ice bar will be open from 11am to 4pm on the weekend of 29-30 January and daily from 5 February 2022.

3 experiences in 1: snow groomer ride in Gavarnie, breakfast and first slopes on the slopes

There’s plenty of time in the morning with this 3 in 1!
It all starts with a ride in a snow groomer to the top of the Gavarnie-Gèdre domain, waking up to the sunlight behind the Brèche de Roland, where you will enjoy your breakfast. It is there that you will enjoy your breakfast —time seems to stand still!

You have no idea, but meanwhile, down below, things are boiling. The station staff are working hard to open up the pitch.
