Despite abundant snow, the Peyragudes ski resort, labeled Family +, will not be able to completely open this year. However, the resort’s professional teams are doing everything they can to ensure that visitors can enjoy an incredible Christmas vacation in the resort and in the valley.

Today we bring you a brief description of everything you can do in Peyragudes and in the Louron Valley this Christmas!

In Peyragudes, children and beginners can ski at Christmas

From Sunday December 20th, the Skyvall valley chairlift will take skiers from the village of Loudenvielle to the foot of the Peyragudes slopes, on the Peyresourde side.

From there, beginners can grab the Snow White and Aladdin magic rugs and enjoy the wonders of skiing. On the Agudes side, it will also be possible to ski thanks to the Les Barbioules mat. The Piou Piou spaces of the French Ski Schools will also be open to the little ones. Please note that the ski instructors will be giving ski lessons and lessons.

In Val Louron, it will be the Trounquet carpet that will allow beginners to ski from December 20th to 24th and from then December 27th to 31st. The Piou Piou area will be open and the toboggan run will be freely accessible.

Outdoor walks for the whole family

The marked snowshoe routes will be accessible, free of charge, in the Balestas forest sector from Altiport 007 Peyresourde-Balestas. There are about 10 km of more or less long routes that will be dedicated for practitioners of snowshoes, all of which will be set within a beautiful fir forest.

During these Christmas holidays in Peyragudes, two free snowshoeing or cross-country ski routes will also be signposted outside the ski area, from the foot of the slopes on the Peyresourde side to the altitude restaurant. It will also be possible to take accompanied walks.

The Sherpa base will offer dog sled rides for young (2 years old and up) and old alike, and to share this great experience of incredible moments with the family.

Mountain bikes for everyone

Labeled “land of cycling excellence” (terre d’excellence cycliste), the Louron Valley offers many trails suitable for mountain biking, spread out between the valley floor and Peyragudes.

These Christmas holidays in Peyragudes could be the perfect opportunity to enjoy this wonderful sport. To learn how to go mountain biking, there is nothing better than the two Pumptracks located on the shores of Lake Génos-Loudenvielle, including the special one for young children under the age of 10. The little ones can also have fun in complete safety while they admire their elders.

Balnea, destination bubbles!

Balnéa, the first thermal water relaxation complex in the French Pyrenees, will open its outdoor pools and treatment area on Saturday, December 19th. Families with children over 9 months can discover the Inca and Mayan Baths with 35 ° waters.

Bubble baths, swan necks, massage courts, counter-current swimming machine, hydromassage jets … Balnéa offers you as many relaxing activities as you can imagine to recharge your batteries! Meanwhile, the Japanese Baths with their three panoramic pools at 36 °, 37 ° and 40 ° will provide you with incredible landscapes and an unparalleled wellness experience. As the number of tickets is limited, it is recommended to book in advance.

Heritage in the spotlight

Labeled “Country of Art and History”, guided tours will allow you to discover the historical heritage of the Louron Valley during this Christmas holidays.

However, Peyragudes has an even newer way to enjoy its surroundings and heritage: “Spies in the Snowstorm”. It is a game, halfway between a treasure hunt and a life-size escape room. The story centers around how 20 years ago, a famous person landed at the Altiport de Peyragudes, and then allows you to go in search of them.

Equipped with the game booklet, players begin their investigation at Peyragudes and then descend on Loudenvielle aboard the Skyvall. Throughout their journey, they will have to solve puzzles during a journey where collaboration will be the key to success. The objective is to make you discover the Valley of Louron, Peyragudes and its landscapes, its heritage and its history.

Before we go, we have to mention…

And for those who always want more, it will be possible to enjoy activities such as snowmobiling, paintball, quad-biking, archery, ax-throwing, miniature golf, paragliding and even laser biathlon. In addition, we have to recommend the Loudenvielle market with its street show on Tuesday, December 22nd and 29th from 4:00 p.m. Furthermore, several restaurants will offer takeaway either in the resort or the Valley.
