The French resort of Les Arcs has inaugurated its new funicular, linking the resort of Bourg-Saint-Maurice with Arc 1600. This modern funicular, equipped with a panoramic window that allows travelers to enjoy spectacular views, replaces the old model, installed in 1989.
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the resort has also done a facelift, with the complete renovation of the facilities for the winter season 2019-2020. The changes include improvements in waiting conditions and passenger travel, such as a roof that will allow them to take refuge in bad weather.
The inauguration of this new transport was planned for a week before, but it had to be delayed until July 13 because it was still necessary to perform static and dynamic tests to guarantee the safety of the passengers. To celebrate the opening, on Wednesday, July 24, there will be an open day with free admission for all pedestrians.

New funicular Les Arcs : Schedule, prices and stops

This summer, the funicular exits are every 30 minutes from both ends, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. every day until August 31.
To get on the funicular, it’s necessary to have a ticket, which can be purchased at Bourg-Saint-Maurice or at the automatic machines at the departure point. The price is € 8 for adults (over 13 years) and € 5 for children. If you have a ski pass, unlimited access to the funicular is included. Access is also free for children up to 5 years old and for adults aged 75 and over.
The funicular arrives to Arc 1600, but if you stay at Arc 1800, 1950 or 2000, you can use the free transport that connects them. And, attention!: the stops at Les Granges and Montrigon are only at the request of the travelers, so don’t forget to request them.
