Despite a difficult start of the season and a long wait, having to delay the opening dates several times, the ski resorts of Argentina currently work normally and at full capacity. The ski center of Caviahue, in Neuquén (Argentina), already accumulates up to 120 centimeters (47 inches) of snow on its peaks and 60 cm (24 in) at its base.
Initiation for adults
The numerous trails of Caviahue adapt to the different levels of the skier but, thanks to its many services, this Argentinian resort draws attention especially as the perfect destination for beginners. In Caviahue, adults can also learn to ski or snowboard or simply improve their level and technique.
You can learn the disciplines of alpine skiing, snowboarding and monoski through three different types of classes: collective, private or premium:
– The collective classes, in groups of 4 to 10 people of the same level, starting on Sundays / Mondays until Friday. The schedule is from 11.00 a.m. to 1 p.m.
– In private classes, you choose the schedule, the days of class and, in case you want it, the company. You can learn alone or in a group of up to four students from the same family or group of friends that have the same level. The classes can hae a duration of 2, 4, 6 or 8 hours.
– Top class: in the premium class service you can learn with the best instructors and with the support of different tools, such as video corrections. They can be for half a day or for the whole day.
If you are more experienced, you can also join the Free Ride experience and enjoy an adventure that combines skiing with snowmobile rides, always accompanied by local specialists and with maximum safety. Snow powder, great slopes and adrenaline are guaranteed.
Multiple services for families with children
If you travel with children, you have different options in order to enjoy a carefree snow day:
– The little ones can stay at the Los Pumitas nursery, where the expert babysitters will take care of them while the adults slide down the slopes. The nursery is suitable for children from 3 months to 3 years of age and works in the morning (from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and in the afternoon (from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
– Children between the age of 4 and 5 can enjoy the Snow Garden, where they will take their first steps in learning to ski while having fun. The schedule is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– For slightly older children, from 6 to 12 years old, there are different programs of ski and snowboard classes in the Junior Club that adapt to their age and level. The apprenticeship program is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., from Sunday / Monday until Friday. On Friday, the kids participate in a race to show what they’ve learned and they get diplomas at the awards ceremony.
