When cold and snow come to the rescue of the seasons.
The anticyclone stalled for several weeks in the Pyrenees massif prevented the entry of storms and any snowfall on the peaks. Only on Wednesday night and Thursday, the snow finally sprinkled the summits of Luchon, bringing a beautiful white color to the resort. The winter environment has returned, it’s about time! The ski resort of Luchon Superbagnères has had a difficult start to the winter season with Christmas holidays without snow and closed slopes. But this is now just a bad memory. The cold weather of the last days and hours has greatly helped the resort, which is actively working to produce snow, thanks to the favorable temperatures. The thin film of snow that has fallen during the week is the cherry on top, and offers spectacular winter landscapes that were missed.

Opening of the slopes of Lac and Marmotte.
“We are going to provide skiers with the slope of Lac du Lac and the longest run of the resort, Marmotte, in the Céciré ski area”, explains Christian Mathias, the resort director. Then we will continue to open the ski area, little by little. The ski product that we will make available to our customers will be excellent. The cold is very present and the quality of the snow is excellent. The few centimeters that fell on Thursday mixed with the snow produced and are the first “natural flakes” we received”, commented Christian Mathias, to our colleagues at the Depeche. For this first opening weekend, beginners will also be delighted with Sla Baby Track and Open Kindergarten, a news that gives a smile to skiers, but also seasonal staff who waited a long time to make their first hours at the resort.
“We can finally get the employees back to the lifts”, continues Christian Mathias. “This is good news. Finally the snow has arrived and I hope we can open more quickly. “
