Wolf Creek is a ski resort located in Colorado not only famous for the snow but also for the surrounding nature. In fact, the ski area is at the heart of the Rio Grande National Forest famous for the deep snows of winter and the riches of the nature. To reach the resort from Denver, drive to Colorado Springs, then take the I-25 S and at Walsenburg take the US-160 W until Fox Mountain and Wolf Creek. 6 car parks are provided at the resorts including one handicap parking. The resort is famous for its heavy snowfalls and the quality of its powder snow. It receives ‘The most Snow in Colorado’ with 430 inches (11 meters) of natural snow every year and the resort opens from early November to early April. This is a huge domain featuring slopes for all level of skiers: at the top of the resort skiers can experience the most challenging areas with the extreme trails at the Horseshoe Bowl, at the far end of the ski area, the Knife Ridge Chutes and the Alberta Peaks. These are extreme areas for the more experienced skiers seeking for adventure and the most challenging trails. Be careful when skiing in the Waterfall area, it is extremely steep and only for confirmed skiers. When going on the left part of the resort on the trail map, do no miss the Camino Del Monte Sol, the trail linking the left area of the domain to the lifts. Otherwise you will go down the other side of the mountain, the Spooner Hill, within the ski area but which is not serviced unfortunately. You will then have to walk carrying your skis until the main area. The domain is also perfect for beginners who can enjoy the easier tracks situated above the base area. A magic carpet is also available for children near the ski school. If you take the Treasure Stoke chairlift, you directly go from the base area to the top of the resort and you can admire the spectacular view from the panoramic restaurant the Continental. It is a spectacular domain featuring a large number of slopes going through bowls and forests in the heart of a the National Forest of Colorado.
